“Awesome service across the board (well.. almost)”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Just finished up a fantastic 3 day stay at the Sanctuary.
Highlights:
* Service was great; front-desk, concierge (John), room service, restaurant Elements, housekeeping, pool & bell staff. All were eager to help and made our stay special.
* Room had a cool, funky vibe. We had a mountain vista suite and it was much more spacious than we anticipated. Well appointed.

Two small negatives with our stay:
* Spa/tennis area. Numerous emails/calls went unanswered and when we eventually did make contact, the spa concierge was arrogant. However, since we were unable to make any reservations, we hiked Camelback Mountain instead. Wow! What luck! It was fantastic.
* Room was advertised as having a pull-out sofa bed. It was terrible. Thin mattress and broken spring system.

The minor annoyances were well outweighed by overall fantastic service and a wonderful space. We'll return.

This hotel is awesome. My friends and I go annually for a girls weekend spa get-away and would not consider anywhere else. I have traveled all over the world for work and leisure and find the staff at this hotel to be the best team all around. The management team of this property is to be commended for their hiring and training of staff. The restaurant, Elements and chef Beau McMillan are top rated. The views from the property of Camelback and the other mountains are breathtaking. And...some of the best facials and massages we have ever had.

Room Tip: Tell them what you want - pretty view, closer to pool/restaurant, top or bottom of the hill and they...

Call me biased since I've lived in Paradise Valley AZ & Scottsdale for (ahem) 60 years, but I cant help it. It's TRUE! No Hotel or Resort in the Nation has matched this one. As I sit here and write this review the only other hotel that comes to mind is out of the Country that I've stayed in - The Loews in Monte Carlo- but when all is said and done, The Sanctuary is by far the best renovated and keeping the old world charm intact. I remember ( 1960-70's) when this place was the most visiting Tennis Ranch (for the elite). They did keep 5 courts, but also replaced most of them with the most awesome enormous negative edge pool and did not compromise the views of Camelback Mountain and twinkling Paradise Valley lights you can get hypnotized by at night that can be viewed thru the Elements Restaurant and Bar patio. The spa located in this Resort is of course famous but 'so what'. You must make this a stop when you come to the Phoenix area to check out the grounds! You will NOT be disappointed in the staff, the food, and the ambiance. Tell them a NATIVE of AZ sent you, you will get a good seat! Debra McGuinn Savittieri.

As first time visitors, my wife and I were very impressed with the Sanctuary. The room was nothing special, but we were in the cheapest room level, so that's what we expected. Everything else was better than we expected. The staff is very well trained and super professional. Everyone from the valets to the pool servers to the bar staff went above and beyond to make the guests happy. The grounds are quite beautiful and the pool area is very inviting. Besides the staff, the most outstanding feature of the resort is the food. Whether it was appetizers at the Jade Bar or lunch by the pool, it was fantastic. The kitchen uses a lot of asian accents and the dishes were light, fresh and delicious. It is a great place for couples that are looking for a more intimate resort. We hope to be back next year.

This was our fourth time at the resort. Certain things stay the same (in a good way) - the property is beautiful, nestled up against Camelback Mountain; the rooms are modern chic with top notch amenities; the pools, fitness room and spa are wonderful; and much of the staff are absolutely terrific. A special thank you to the bartenders at the Jade Bar (Kelly, in particular, who kept us coming back every night!), Demi at the restaurant (my husband pronounced her the most polite server we have ever had), and the valet staff who were friendly and highly professional. We got a mountain casita this time and while the walk between the room and the lobby, restaurant and pool was on a significant incline (or decline, depending on which way we were headed), the staff was always ready, willing and able to get us there by golf cart if we couldn't do so on our own locomotion. Suites feature a mini-kitchenette for those who want that flexibility on meals. I would definitely recommend a spa treatment - the facility is very peaceful - my massage therapist gave me the option of being in a darkened treatment room or opening the door and curtains to the inner courtyard, letting in light and the immensely soothing sound of running water. Guess what I opted for? There is also an Olympic gold-medalist swimmer giving lessons for swimmers of all capabilities - my husband got a lesson and pronounced it well worth the fee. Sanctuary is within a few miles of downtown Scottsdale, yet a world away.

We stayed here in a one-bedroom suite in 2008 and again in March, 2013. The property remains in top shape. Staff is attentive and friendly. The suite was spotless, decorated with a minimalist subtlety that is soothing. The swimming pool was just a little cooler than we like (felt like 79 degrees, but we never asked staff about it). We'll certainly return in 2014, but stay a bit longer!

This was our first stay at the Sanctuary - and I doubt we will return.
For the cost they lack attention to detail...that being housekeeping.
We had dirty glasses sit outside of our door for 2 days.
We were excited when we were shown a pool right outside our room, except that during our entire stay not one person performed any pool maintenance. So the pool was green and in desperate need of vacuuming, with room service trays that sat on a table for 3 days.
Just not what we expected.

Please know that this is very disappointing to see and will be addressed with our room service and engineering teams immediately. This is certainly not indicative of the level of service we are known for and pride ourselves on each and every day. My sincere apology that this happened during your stay and I hope you will give me a call when your travel plans bring you to this area again!

Warm regards,
