“It's a place to get spoiled”

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Arizona. We spent our last 3 nights at the Montelucia with the single purpose of sitting in the sun and relaxing. The resort was the perfect answer. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and kept extremely clean. Our room was absolutely terrific: located on the first floor of the Oasis building overlooking the adult pool. The room was very large with a gorgeous, large bathroom. The sunken tub and open shower were totally elegant. We started our morning on the double chaise lounge, sitting on our porch, eating breakfast. Then, under perfectly blue skies, we spent a wonderful day at the pool. The emplyees go beyond in trying to make everything perfect for you. They are very friendly and helpful. We got great directions and suggestions for restaurants although, we only ate out once. The food at the resort was excellent. There are so many places to sit and have drinks, tapas, full meals, that it made no sense in leaving. If it's chilly, there are lots of tables on the open patio areas with fire pits in the middle. Whatever you need, the staff is there to help. The gym and spa areas are wonderful. It is a splurge to stay there. WE were there at the height of the season. We would definitely return to the Montelucia.

Room Tip: We loved the location of the Oasis building. Our side of Oasis got the morning sun. Room 609 is beau...

Beautiful grounds with Spanish and Morrocan inspired buildings and accents probably why 'the fork' and I liked it so much. One of the few places that we can remember that the pictures actually represent the resort. This is a perfect place to come and spend a long weekend or even longer without leaving the resort. 3 pools to choose from, a larger Kasbah family friendly larger pool, Oasis an adult only pool and finally the pool at Joya Spa which has an exceptional view of the Camelback mountains, although it is clearly for only a quick dip or lounging because of its size. The breakfasts at Prado were reliable, nothing exceptional but good. Service was excellent. One of the best parts of the Montelucia is the multiple courtyards and outdoor seating options with beautiful views of the mountains, architecture and landscaping. The room we had was toward the back of the resort, nearer the mountains. The bathroom was large with a nice shower and bathtub. The king bed was comfortable and the patio facing the courtyard was nice. We also had a bocci court outside out room. The only disappointing part of the visit was the massage service at Joya Spa, which we reviewed separately, without which our visit would have been perfect. The is a great option for those looking for everything in one location to maximize relaxation time.

I have stayed at the Montelucia before and will again... and again. Stepping into the impeccably maintained property makes me feel like I'm in Morocco/Spain at a palace. I have received excellent service from check in; to the bellmen; to staff in the restaurants. I had to wait only a short while for my room to be ready and was offered a complimentary drink in the bar and a follow up call to make sure everything was good in my room - that's service. I've invited family/friends that live in the area to join me for a cocktail in the open area in front of the firepits and listen to the music on the weekend. The view of Camelback Mountain from the grounds is incredible. I've used the amazing spa for services and yoga classes. Lots of shopping areas and restaurants close by on Scottsdale Road. If you drive south on Scottsdale or 44th Street it really doesn't take you long to get to Old Scottsdale or the Desert Gardens, Zoo, Papago Park. Take a trip to the Cosanti studio for a unique chime to take home. If you need a break even for 2 or 3 days, The Montelucia will provide the relaxation you seek. I like to stay near the back of the property where it does become my true oasis in the desert.

We spent 10 days at the Montelucia, including a frustrating first day waiting 5 hours to check in.
Sometimes the service was too long at the Crave Cafe, brought the wrong bill, and overcooked the food, but they try very hard to please their guests, so they made up for problems with credits. If you want to spend hours relaxing at a beautiful pool, with an incredible view of palm trees and Camelback Mountain this is the place for you. The grounds are built to resemble the Alhambra, the Moors' castle in Spain, highlighting pools of water in the architecture. The effect is very relaxing. Take the free resort trolley to downtown Scottsdale for dinners and shopping, and take day trips to Taliesen West and the Grand Canyon.

Room Tip: If you sign up for a resort view room, make sure you get it.

The Montelucia was awesome - so glad we discovered this immaculate gem of a secluded resort. We stayed 3 nights from Seattle, where we had been DESPERATE to get some sun!! 15 minute cab from Phoenix airport, and 15 minutes to Old Town Scottsdale where we went for dinners. Though easy access, the resort is still very removed and secluded - you feel like you're in your own world when you're there. The spa is amazing, would recommend the exclusive rooftop spa pool - you can use it all day the day of your spa service and it is a peaceful oasis to sip on a drink and work on a tan with an incredible view of the resort grounds and the stunning Camelback Mountain. Oasis pool was great too. Only complaint was slow service at times in both the Oasis pool area, and Crave cafe (where we went for morning coffee), but both times the staff bought us free drinks to apologize for the wait, so 2 free lattes and 2 free $14 margaritas later, we couldn't complain. : ) Overapply sunscreen, bring a good book, and enjoy a few days of blissful desert dwelling.

Room Tip: Recommend a room with a view of one of the pools, and/or Camelback Mtn

I travel for business to Scottsdale monthly and I've stayed here twice. The first stay was good so I booked a second stay. BEWARE: ez checkout from the room doesn't give you an invoice. I called to get the invoice and there were additional fees on the bill. I called to question the fees and customer service said they would call back. They never called back, so I called a day later. I was charged $12 for computer fees that were supposedly waived because the computer froze and wouldn't. But, the charges were still on my credit card and they refused to remove them plust the extra fees. Customer service said the person I had talked with the previous day didn't work there. The location is good, but there are other resorts nearby that are honest and don't add hidden fees. I'll never stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't use their computers; they are very slow at $6.00 for 10 minutes! Customer service is bad!

Wow, can not apologize enough. Something so simple to fix and alleviate your experience being poor. We hope you enjoyed part of your stay at least, the views, rooms and hopefully you had a chance to experience Joya Spa or Prado.

The grounds are beautiful, reminiscent of Sevilla. The spa is absolutely amazing. Malena is the massage queen. Brunch was more than disappointing. Overpriced sliced fruit, cheese, pastries, yogurt parfait....I could drive down the street to the grocery store. Nothing stood out. VIP visitors get sublime service (not everyone can be wealthy middle eastern royalty). We waited more than 20 minutes to pay our tab. Way too noisy patrons. Unaware/apathetic staff. We paid that much $$$ to pay for average food and unprofessional service.
'Us' little people will order food at the spa's rooftop pool/deck. View is amazing, worth the extra $ and for the chaise lounge chairs with towels and service:)
