In my opinion, the customer service, rooms and dining is second to none. I would ( and have) recommend this hideaway to all my freinds and family. Thank you for the awesome experience.

I read with interest the previous post regarding a negative first impression of the Hermosa Inn because that was our experience as well. Our first impression of the property itself was “wow” but not so much for the check in. Since we have also stayed at the Royal Palms, I thought “uh-oh, we should have gone there again.” With all due respect, our first impression was NOT indicative of our stay experience.

Apparently the casitas have recently been remodeled and are quite spacious. We found the décor rather blah and felt it had little eye appeal. The king bed was very comfortable. Our casita, number 111 (one of the small size) had a nice patio that was right by one of the hot tubs. However, even with spike sticks, many of which were bent or missing, we still had nesting pigeons that left not so lovely droppings on the patio.

A few noteworthy items:
1) There are no towel racks in this size casita so you either hang the towel over the shower or put it on the floor to be replaced.
2) It is very dark in the bathroom/entryway during the night … a night light would be a great addition to allow a guest to find their way to the bathroom without almost killing themselves on the step up and entryway.
3) The thermostat for the a/c is located in the entryway, a small enclosed alcove that does not accurately portray the temp of the entire room. Therefore, the thermostat may read 74 degrees, but the room itself is much warmer.
4) Since I am a bit height challenged (5’2”), I found the bathroom counter to be too high … not an issue for taller folks but difficult for us shorter folks.
5) The shower temperature mixer is opposite to what we are used to due to being manufactured in Germany (we learned this upon check out from Chris.) We had a heck of a time getting a water temp that wasn’t either scorching hot or ice cold. Perhaps the check in envelope could include information on proper operation of the shower mixer.

We dined at Lon’s for dinner and yes, the food was superb. Our server, Nick, was friendly and attentive. My husband HAD to try the Macaroni & Cheese and it was unusual but delicious. We also ate at Lon’s for breakfast … definitely try the Monkey Bread and the Lemon Ricotta pancakes (really more like a soufflé). Laurie was our morning server and we enjoyed chatting with her about the history of the property. She was very knowledgeable about the property and even arranged for the wine cellar to be opened so we could go down and take a look (very cool, literally and figuratively!)

We didn’t pass a staff member on the property without being greeted in some way and the entire staff at Lon’s, from the bartender to the servers, was just as pleasant as can be. Every employee made sure we were taken care of. We were checked out of the room by Chris, the Director of Guest Relations. Needless to say, the check out experience was 180 degrees from check in. Chris was polished and professional and inquired about our stay.

Bottom line: The Hermosa Inn really is a first class, boutique property and will shine if given the chance.

Dear Sandnsun61,

Thank you for your comments, I apologize that your check in experience did not meet your expectations. I am happy to see that you were nonetheless able to enjoy your stay and experience our Boutique Hideaway and all it has to offer! I have reviewed your notes, and we are currently working on the last few rooms to install towel hooks as well. I truly appreciate your feedback and we hope to see you again soon!

Although it only has 34 rooms, this resort has much to offer. Its close to Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. Lon's had excellent food for breakfast and dinner. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. The rooms were newly remodeled and made me never want to leave. It was quite hot being July in Arizona, but we couldn't have asked for a more wonderful time. The pool is small and not a place for kids, but the resort is highly recommended for an adult getaway.

We just wanted someplace to relax and re-charge (no loud resort- type behemoth) and a location close enough so that we could climb Camelback Mountain. We found it at the Hermosa Inn. Our room was exquisite, like a picture out of a magazine, with a tiny patio that overlooked a hot tub (which we indulged in frequently). While soaking our tired muscles in the hot waters after a day of climbing, the sound of cooing doves and the montage of flowers framed by the emerald green grass was enough to drive away any concerns or worries (kudos to the gardener). Unfortunately, we never did get a chance to eat at Lon's but found an interesting authentic Cuban restaurant that we enjoyed and while waiting at Walgreen's for our film to be developed one day (had to buy a disposable camera because we forgot ours) discovered an amazing taco stand across the street called Rolberto's (any venture capitalists reading this.....check this place out!). Back for a night of sleep tucked between Egyptian cotton sheets and a down comforter......life is good. I want to come back.
P.S. A little of the beaten path but Pinnacle Peak was worth the drive for anybody looking for a less challenging climb but extreme outdoor beauty.

My wife and I took advantage of our kids being away, so I booked the Romance pakage for a one night stay at the Hermosa Inn. It was great, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were waiting for us in the room upon our arrival, the room was spacious and the bathroom and tub amazing. We ate dinner at the Inn's restaurant Lon's and had a wonderful meal. The beef short ribs was simply too die for. When we returned to our room the floor was covered in rose petals, the bath drawn, and candles a light. It truly was a night to remember.

Since we live in Phoenix, we are blessed with access to great resorts and great resort packages in the summer. We usually take advantage of these rates for summer special occasions like our anniversary or my wife’s birthday. One of our favorite places to stay is the Hermosa Inn. We booked a “Night at Lon’s” package with a Deluxe Casita. The package includes a $100 dining credit at their wonderful, intimate restaurant Lon’s as well as breakfast in the morning. We felt it was a great deal. In season, these 650 – 750 sq ft. Casitas cost a pretty penny. So to get all this for around $250 is a bargain. As I mentioned, there are lots of great resorts to choose from. If you are not looking for a giant pool, waterpark, lazy river, hip pool party, DJ’s, hip hop or the “in” spot to be seen and your tastes un to quiet, intimate, romantic, authentic Southwestern then check out the Hermosa Inn. You will be pleased. The recently room renovations really improved on accommodations that were already good.

Outstanding experience in all ways, will very comfortable rooms that have all the extras expected on very expensive hotels.

This is a place to really get away, even though in the mist of a large city.
