I spent 5 days/4 nights at The Hermosa Inn, the first 4 days for a business meeting, the last added on for pleasure. My wife joined me for most of the stay. Overall, our experience was very good.

The Hermosa Inn is a small, quiet place, tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It is quite unlike many of the large, brash resorts that dot the area. We had a casita with a fireplace. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was one of three casitas grouped together in a gentle curve, facing a garden and outdoor jacuzzi. I was not in any of the other rooms, but those that we're not casitas appeared smaller and were organized in a straight line. I'm confident those guests also greatly enjoyed their experience, but I was particularly glad to be in a casita.

We dined at Lon's, the inn's restaurant, on one occasion. Our meals were excellent, as was the service. My spare ribs were superb. You will spend about $150 for a dinner for two (glass of wine, salad, entree, dessert), and likely more depending on how much wine you drink.

My wife had a wonderful facial treatment at the spa. Her only disappointment was the price, at $140, was more than expected She looked and felt great (but I thought she looked great before too). I'd recommend spending that money on another dinner at Lon's instead.

The grounds of the inn are beautifully landscaped, with sculptures along pleasant walking paths. I found a chair in one of the gardens and spent hours with a good book.

All of the staff - reception, housekeeping, kitchen, waitress - were always professional, friendly and helpful.

Finally, because this is off the between track, there is nothing within close walking distance. All shops and restaurants are a short cab ride away, which the staff is happy to arrange.

Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and I hope to return some day.

A real gem. This property is lovely and secluded. I highly recommend spending the extra dollars on a casita. Our casita was beautifully appointed and I loved wandering through the gardens and passing by the sculputre installations along the way "home" to our place. I hope to get back here someday.

Room Tip: The casitas are the best way to go here.

This is the perfect boutique hotel without any of the stuffiness that some of them can have.

The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was fantastic and you immediately have the feeling that you are somewhere special and that they treat all their guests from 9 (my son's age) to 90 in the same way.

The pool is sooooo relaxing and you lie back and watch the humming birds fly around the tops of the palm trees. Service at the pool is low key and excellent.

The grounds are stunning but again in an understated and unshowy way - truly special.

For the first time on out week road trip round gorgeous Arizona the waiter at Lons (the hotel restaurant ) got it just right. He was informative, friendly and efficient without being overbearing and loud and repetitive as a lot of them unfortunately now are.

Wonderful stay - just to short. We would LOVE to come back.

Thanks to everyone for making our brief stay very special.

Room Tip: the ones in the garden or set back from the road probably best

Lovely spacious rooms with private outdoor spaces. The most beautiful grounds with colorful desert plants intermixed with interesting sculpture. Lovely pool and spa. Only 34 rooms. Service is warm and friendly. Originally home of well known western painter and some of his artwork and other excellent paintings throughout hotel. Excellent well priced breakfast. Not cheap but well worth it. Very near canal path where you can walk or bike.

Tucked away in the heart of metro Phoenix is a southwestern gem. This southwestern inn has just 34 rooms including several spacious casitas. We were fortunate enough to come in under a package program that included a "tour" of the inn that turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Andrew, one of the hosts at the Lon's restaurant on property, grew up less than a mile from the property and since both he and my wife and I had been Arizona residents for over 50 years we not only shared many amazing points about the hotel but our love for the Phoenix area. He will tell you tales of friendly ghosts and the cowboy artist whose property you are visiting. Please talk to Pam the guest relations director and Nicole the registration clerk. Be seated on the spacious patio and enjoy drinks from The Last Drop and then a view of the mountains while eating an amazing meal lit by miners lamps on the patio while you soft music is being played. The pool and spa seem about the size to be found in your backyard with a fire pit to relax and enjoy the quiet. Plan your stay to include breakfast and don't forget their signature "monkey bread". Although we live only a few miles away, it was one of the best staycations we have ever enjoyed and can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: If you can get a casita at a discount, go for it. But you will not be disappointed with any room.

The Hermosa emphasizes quality over size, yet somehow has so many discrete corners that it feels more interesting than hotels and resorts 10 times its size. You'll never feel like you're part of an anonymous crowd at the Hermosa. As an introvert who values a discrete, personable setting, this place was perfect for me.

Nearly 100% of the hotel is ground floor. It comes with a library, and a genuine wine cellar. The staff are happy to organize dinners for you in either of them.

Best of all: the food was the best of any hotel I have stayed at in my life. It was something to write home about.

Room Tip: I was surprised to find the staff visit around 6pm to turn up the bed for the night. They come with...

Stayed for 3 nights in a deluxe casita. There are only 4 but worth the extra should you be debating on casita or deluxe. The Hermosa really is a delightful property. It only has 34 units and therefore you are a person and not just another guest. Special mention must go to Pam guest relations director and Randy - banqueting manager. We had been travelling for 2 weeks and this was our relaxing period - it did not dissapoint. The Hermosa is 'tucked' away - driving down the road you would be hard pushed to realise that it was there. However that makes it all the more appealing. Make your way from the car into the grounds and you soon appreciate the quality. The grounds are beautifully laid out with sculptures, cacti and plants and there are intimate areas you can sit and relax with a drink or book or both. Did not use the spa but made full use of the pool facilities which were excellent. We dined at Lon's restaurant and choose the patio. Very romantic with the sound of the water from the fountain together with the lanterns stratigically placed. Food and service were A1 and the staff certainly knew the menu and advised accordingly. Living in Scotland we are not in Phoenix that frequently but will definately return when next in the area.

Room Tip: The 4 deluxe casitas are in a more secluded area.

Ranked among the top hotels in the Southwest, the AAA Four Diamond Hermosa Inn is a jewel of a hideaway surrounded by an exclusive neighborhood in Paradise Valley, and minutes from Scottsdale and its many attractions. Handcrafted in the 1930s by cowboy artist Lon Megargee as his residence and art studio, the Inn's adobe architecture has kept its "authentic Arizona" character and charm. The 43 newly renovated guest casitas are nestled in a garden setting with breathtaking vistas of the lush desert and Camelback Mountain. Accommodations reflect the southwestern design of the original Casa Hermosa (beautiful house) and most include deep soaking tubs, beehive fireplaces and private patios. The culinary centerpiece is LON's at the Hermosa, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant with a Best of Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator serving globally inspired Arizona fare. The restaurant is complemented by a subterranean wine cellar, a celebrated outdoor dining patio, and its bar and casual dining counterpart LON's Last Drop, named after one of Megargee's iconic paintings, many of which are displayed throughout the resort. ... more   less
