“Southwest adobe luxury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

The Hermosa Inn is not your "A" typical Inn, but that's what makes it special. It comes with charm and uniqueness that makes you feel like a modern cowboy living in the southwest.

The property is in a residential part of Paradise Valley, just minutes away from Scottsdale. It was originally designed and built by cowboy artist Lon Megargee in the 1930s as his private residence. There really isn't a main building where all the rooms are located. The rooms are sprinkled throughout the property as casitas. Many sit alone, but some are nestled together in small groups.

The rooms are comfortable and have a traditional Southwest design. Our casita was one of the oldest and had tons of charm. The casita had a full wall of closets with plenty of storage for hanging and folded items. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was efficient with a mexican tile floor, vanity top and walk-in shower keeping with the southwest theme. The bathroom even had a skylight for added light in the shower.

The pool isn't big, but it's perfect for lounging around and cooling off during HOT days. Didn't have a chance to eat at Lon's, but everyone who had said the food was great. Just plan on spending a few bucks.

If you like something a little off main street with rustic luxury and charm, check out Hermosa Inn next time you're in Phoenix.

We stayed here on suggestion from a friend as nice place for a mini romantic staycation, and wow it did not disappoint! Beautiful location tucked in the middle of a residential area in Phoenix.
We had a casita which included walk in shower, private veranda and fireplace. Everything was perfectly set up on arrival even though we were early.
We ate at Lon's and it was exquisite. I had the chefs tasting menu of evening, which was perfectly timed, balanced and cooked to perfection. They also offered drinks during the meal that complimented the food perfectly.
After dinner we had such a enjoyable time at their bar The Last Drop, a nice dark tucked away bar. Travis and his staff are exceptional when it comes to drink creations. Travis entertained our palate with personal mixes and a wealth of liquor information. Watching him make drinks was like watching a artist.
I will be recommending this to family and friends and hope to return soon. The place is a perfect hideaway for a couple or family. Could not be happier.

Room Tip: Casitas are located a few steps away from heated pool and jacuzzi.

Spent Thanksgiving week at the Hermosa Inn with our son. What a fabulous setting and warm, friendly staff. They could not have been nicer from reception to the gardeners. We especially loved the innovative drinks mixed up by Travis and staff of The Last Drop. What fun he was -- and the drinks were unbelievable. Food in Lons was great and the wait staff and hosts were friendly and accommodating. Thank you to all for a lovely Thanksgiving week.

Room Tip: We loved our connecting rooms with a private jacuzzi just for the rooms on our own fenced yard.

We have heard rave reviews about Hermosa Inn and Lon's restaurant so we were very excited to book both for my husband's 64th birthday. Unfortunately, our expectations were apparently too high for the very high price tag for the overnight and dinner. Room was okay, but the TV did not work properly and due to the understaffing at the front desk, it took over 2 hours for maintenance to arrive and fix it. We strolled over to Lon's for dinner and they absently asked if it was a special occasion(even though I booked it as a birthday). They took us to a table that wasn't ready and then had us stand in the middle of the dining room while the couple finished their dinner. Food tasted fine, but the presentation was terrible, as if there was a collision in the kitchen with our plates and they simply brought out the plates the food re-arranged and partially hanging off the edge of the plate. Never asked how the dinner was. The water person was attentive. They did nothing for the "special occasion" and charged us for our birthday dessert(even though they knew we were not happy) and for all of this we paid over $800 lodging and dinner for one night. Afterwards, it took them forever to acknowledge our complaints and then they didn't really want to offer any sort of apology other than that they tend to be understaffed. Customer service is not in their vocabulary. Too many amazing places in the Valley to suffer through another one of these.

I am sorry to hear that our service in the resort and restaurant did not live up to it’s usual quality during your stay earlier this year. I’ve spoken with our Director of Food & Beverage, LON's Executive Chef and our Director of Guest Services to ensure that all issues experienced during your stay were addressed and rectified, so as to not happen again.

Thank you for bringing these items to our attention, as we strive to bring a luxury experience to all guests and it is quite unfortunate that this was not the case here.

I apologize on behalf of our team here at The Hermosa Inn and hope you'll return so that we can provide you with an experience to surpass your last.

We stayed for two nights at the Hermosa Inn, where my sister had her wedding. The staff were wonderful, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are lovely. The bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms I've been in! It had a huge wonderful shower you could have a party in, and a deep tub for two;) Only complaints were they did not have much in the way of non-feather duvets or pillows, NOT good for people who are allergic. They also did not have extra cots in case someone needed them (we did, had an extra person, plenty of room, couldn't get a cot for them! Had a problem with them not having extra non-allergenic bedding-we did manage to sort that by finding pillows and a duvet in some of our other rooms that were not feather, but it could have been a real problem). However, with those minor exceptions, we had no real complaints. There is a pool and hot tubs, georgeous gardens full of lovely statues and western art-it's a truly beautiful and relaxing place. The restaurant is very good. The person we worked with for the wedding was top class. It's a bit on the pricey side,, but considering what you get, not bad enough to complain about. The complex has a number of rooms that are like condos, two rooms each, with each one having a lovely outside patio with nice chairs and tables to enjoy the outside, and french doors that open outside for nice evenings. The complex with smaller rooms didn't have private patios, but it was still very nice, and was also right across from the pool and hot tub.

Thank you for the great review! I've spoken with our Director of Guest Services regarding the lack of non-feather bedding, as well as cots, and she is taking steps to rectify this situation.

We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your stay and hope to provide you with an experience to surpass your last upon any future visits.

If there's anything else we can do to ensure a more pleasant stay please don't hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,
Kendra Schultz, Director of Communications

We stayed at the Hermosa Inn over Labor Day weekend (when it was 100+ degrees) and it was an amazing trip. As other reviews have said, it is in a residential neighborhood, which seems odd, but the hotel is so beautiful and relaxing you don't feel like that's where you are. It was actually quite convenient being so close to shops and restaurants but not dealing with the noise or chaos.

We stayed in the deluxe casita - possibly the best hotel room I've ever stayed in. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was exquisite and the decor fit the southwestern atmosphere.

We ate dinner one night at Lon's - highly recommended. Excellent food and service.

Overall a fantastic trip despite the hot weather!

Room Tip: The deluxe casita was a beautiful room and highly recommended, although I don't think you can go...

I stayed here in the beginning of Oct - the stay was very good. The room was perfect, very comfortable bed, very spacious and clean. I did not like the Keurig coffee maker (In fact, none of my friends could figure it out).

The food was excellent, and very relaxed (I.e. No one was in any hurry).

The pool area was very clean and I most enjoyed the complementary bottles of water.
