“Must Do”

Mount Lemmon Ski Valley
Reviewed July 2, 2012

If you like the outdoors, Mount Lemmon is a must do! I take about 45min to an hour to get up the Mount in your car, but it is all a nicely paved road and the view is beautiful! There are plenty of pull out spots to stop and take photos! I would suggest riding the ski lift, it is $9 for adults and is peaceful, with a beautiful view! Also offers great trails, be sure to get a map in the visitors center that shows you all the hiking trails and distances.

Deep forest area so close to Tucson. Great trails and rock climbing

You can not depend on good ski snow, but it is beautiful high-country get-away if you live in the desert or city. Check the weather to know if the snow is good for skiing or better for taking the lift for the view and clear air.

To get there from Tucson, you're looking at a 27 mile paved road, so figure 90 - 120 minutes round trip in the car. Along the way, the road has many places to stop, park and enjoy the views. The road climbs from 2700 feet above sea level (Tucson) to just over 8000 feet. At the top you can easily visit the Mount Lemmon area (there are two casual restaurants and a general store), and just two minutes away is the SKi Valley area (one casual restuarant with good food). The road is completely paved the whole way and not crazily winding. The views are great and it's interesting to see the vegetation change with the altitude. A nice way to spend a half day in Tucson.

Very few choices of anything and very very high prices on everything. Just a great view which is free.
