“Pretty good”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

We stayed at Hotel Millenia for 8 nights. It was the second time a group of us have stayed there. The location is excellent, very close to town. The rooms are very clean and the housekeeping staff are great. The pool is great and kept very clean. I did feel the complimentary breakfast was nowhere near as good as last year, however it was adequate. Last year we had issues with the reception/admin staff and were told that this was because of staff changes. Oh dear same thing this year. Its all about not doing what they say they are going to. We had one issue whereby I had gone to the office and paid the 60tala to have the hotel pick up my cousin from her flight and bring her to the hotel, my cousin arrived in a taxi!!!!! She said not only had she looked out for all signs ie, her name, her partners name, the hotel name etc but so did the taxi driver, the taxi driver said he had seen the hotel millenia driver there earlier but he had left. The flight was delayed, but the hotel knew this because they told me, we asked for our 60tala back and they said "No, the driver was there" that was pretty disappointing. If Hotel Millenia can get there reception/admin staff sorted out it will be a great place to stay (I've only stayed in the new wing) and i think they need to do this urgently with a new place now open just 2 doors along from them.

Our first stay at the Hotel Millenia in Apia. We chose it because it had a nice pool in the photos and was handy to town. We stayed at the new rooms in the back.

The rooms are bright and large - though no kitchen. Furniture not terribly comfortable. Air conditioning worked and was quiet.

The Hotel Millenia seems as much a night club as it is a hotel - as a result it was sometimes loud, with booming base. But it finished before 11, so not too bad.

Pool was lovely. Nice design.

Staff were fine. Breakfast perfectly ordinary - though it included fried spam if that's your thing.

Taxi stand across the road - and plenty of taxi's passing by.

Restaurant was quite mediocre. We tried lunch once.

The Hotel Millenia is a great place to stop over for your first day or so after arriving from N.Z. ,or elsewhere, in the middle of the night. It is handly to central Apia - just a flat five minute stroll to the bus sation and shops. There is a taxi office right opposite the front gate.
The rooms in the 'new wing' are spacious, clean and airey with basic but very adequate facilities.
As we found everywhere in Samoa the staff are helpful, attentive and welcoming. Whilst the 'included breakfast' is somewhat different it is filling and makes a good start to the day. The restaurant menu is sensibly priced and offers a good variety for a short stay.

The pool is kept sparkling clean and is a very welcome facility

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing, most have a view of the harbour.

Millenia was a cool place to stay at, we were there for 3 nights and loved every bit of it close enough to everything but just far enough that your not stuck right in amongst the busy streets of Apia with all the taxi drivers beeping at pretty much everything lol ... would definitely stay here again buffet breakfast in the morning was yumm!!! only thing i would say that they could change slighty is the music they play in the bar, when your having a few drinks, listening to "He aint heavy he's my brother" and "what about me" is not the kinda stuff to start your night on hahhaha some island music would have been nice other than that the hotel is clean the staff are real friendly and its value for money!! The ground floor rooms can get alot of noise from Wednesday night onwards from the club next door it didnt bother us as we were in the club lol and it closes at 10pm on week nights i'd suggest the new wing if you plan on staying around the hotel most of the night

I stayed in the standard room in the hotel which was priced about 250 Talas.
The rooms were shabby and maintenance for the hotel was poor.

I was surprised to have found awesome hotels with at much lower rates.. I immediately moved to an other hotel.

No doubt the new wing is nice.. but is over priced.

We stayed at Hotel Milenia in april which is typically still wet season. We stayed with our young children (10 and 6) and the purpose of our stay was to attend a funeral of a family member so it was not a holiday as such.

The rooms were clean and had all the facilities you would expect - the aircon was a saving grace!! While our beds were extremely comfortable, we had to laugh when my husband and I climbed in and found that our bottom sheet was made up out of two singles! The maid service was regular and she gave our room a really thorough clean each day. The grounds were tidy and beautifully planted. The recently added swimming pool was fantastic for my children and we used it often (thank you to the staff who allowed us to swim even late at night as it was so hot). The staff in the restaurant were courteous and polite and very well groomed - they were always happy to help and have a talk. The food was not the best - and I think if we chose to go back we would eat else where - but the differences in my own and typical Samoan cuisine tastes may have attributed to my dissatisfaction?

I really enjoyed the proximity of the hotel to the craft markets as we could walk there in about 5 mins along the Apia Habour seawall. We could also walk (about 15 min) to the food markets - here you can find an abundance of fresh fruit and veges to bring back to the hotel (tip: go early in the morning and you get fresher local organic fruit and a wider choice. Make sure to buy a traditional salu which is a hand broom - they have a multitude of uses and you buy them for about 5 tala). Saturdays at the food markets are flower days and you can go there to admire local flora artistically arranged into bundles of colourful beauty!!

Fiafia nights on Fridays at Hotel Milenia are great - locals also come to enjoy the music and if you stay in the back wing you cant hear a thing.

If you are wanting a white sandy beach to lie upon, massages in the rainforest, relaxation, acres of landscaped grounds to take walks etc Hotel Milenia is not for you. The hotel faces apia habour - which is not the most beautiful. It is a great place to transition or stay for a day or two to explore Apia - but head out to the coast if you are wanting true Samoan Luxury Accommodation. Please note that there are two "wings" of Hotel Milienia - the older part being more worn and dated is therefore cheaper is also beside the night club, reception and the road. The newer wing is lovely, has all the modern conveniences is quieter and you can be beside the pool.

Really enjoyed Hotel Millenia as was perfect for a traveller on their own as not too big. My room, in the new wing was spotless and very comfortable. The staff were all nice but the receptionists were not as helpful as they could have been when I was enquiring about tours. I was disappointed in the breakfasts as on the 5 mornings I was there the hot dishes were scrambled eggs, cut up sausages and baked beans, changing to poached eggs, spagettii and tomatoes would have made it more interesting.
Great music on 3 of the nights I had dinner there. Meals were quite nice and are a reasonable price compared with other hotels in Samoa. I would stay at this hotel again
