“Great way to see Samoa”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

hey guys, thanks for a great holiday! Bike Samoa is awesome. I was really hoping for decent bikes but expecting cheap and nasty, but what we got was awesome! smooth well tuned touring bikes that were an absolute pleasure to ride. With solid light modern alloy bikes that cruised with ease, the rest was up to us. Biking around Savaii was great. for the most part, we had the roads to our selves and they were in great condition. the hill climbs weren't too hard and the down hills were great!. An endless supply of friendly people always willing to say hi and help or guide you in the right direction. all of them think youre crazy biking in the hot sun but impressed at the same time. with a shop in every village to buy water etc, dehydration was never an issue. the heat made the anticipation of reaching your destination so much better as you couldn't wait to dive into the clear blue waters. All the exercise meant you never felt guilty eating food or drinking your favorite beverage. Make sure you stay at Vai moana in Asau for great service, food and dining ambiance, plus it has kayaks to paddle over the the little island etc. Good surf to be had here too of this island, apparently October is when the big 8ft swells kick in. if there's enough people interested, they'll put on a Umu demonstration etc and they have a live band that plays easy back ground music while dinning. breakfast crepes are delish too! there's also a nice little chicken and chips take away play just as you come into Asau on the left hand side which is well worth the stop and exceptional value for money. The owners lived in Texas and have returned to Samoa with their spicy chicken recipe. drop in and try them out. the people in Savaii don't see many outside people and most of them have never left Savaii so they're always thrilled to see you and talk. Ross and Frances had a nice cool drink waiting for us on our return and were great to deal with. I definitely believe this is the best way to see Samoa, and it helps spread the money around to areas that need the support. you also get to meet and make friends with lots of like minded people doing the same thing as you. Sometimes you tour with them, sometimes you bump into them at your next destination which is great! I thoroughly recommend this to everyone regardless of your skill level. thanks guys for a wonderful experience. see you again soon. regards Mani, Annie and Rebecca

“Excellent Family Bike adventure Samoa”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Thanks Ross and Frances for helping organise a wonderful holiday. We have recommended the bike around Savai'i to many of our friends who are already looking to contact you.
Our adventure included 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 & 10yrs. Ross & Frances fitted us out with excellent touring bikes,a tag-a-long, panniers and assisted us with booking accommodation and arranged luggage transfer. The fale accommodation was excellent and we loved the snorkelling only metres from our fale. The kids particularly enjoyed swimming at Afu Aau falls and jumping off the wharf at Vai moana. The bike ride is scenic and the locals are very friendly and helpful. Ross and Frances provided us with a lot of information before our trip and were very accommodating. We hope to be back again soon.

“An awesome way to start our Samoan Adventure.”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

My partner and I felt like we had conquered the world when we jumped straight off a plane and onto a bike with little to no sleep. (What were we thinking?!)
Ross and Francis were great and planned an awesome two day tour for us.

Ross' knowledge of the country made the bike tour that much more enjoyable. 25kms on a bike is a great way to see part of the island of Upolu. Such a nice ride, waving at all the friendly locals. Admittedly the hill was fairly tough for my partner and I who both cycle often. Though we've been told there is the option of being towed or driven up for those who are worried about making it. It was a tough climb but just get off the bike and push yourself, the view is worth it.

Our first night at Valasi's beach Fales was wonderful. I'm so glad it was our first accommodation spot but probably provided unrealistic expectations for our next stay.
In the morning we went out to search for the giant clams right at the front of our stay. We weren't able to find them on our own but luckily Ross got to us in time and took us back out to see them.

This day also included a kayak out to Nusafee Island. Highly recommended as we saw turtles whilst we paddled out and the island itself is just magnificent. The only inhabitants on the island are the many hermit crabs there.

We really did feel like family and Francis was so lovely and was able to help us plan the rest of our remaining 4 day trip which helped to make it a great holiday.

Thanks for an unforgettable trip which wouldn't have been possible without your help.

Reviewed May 11, 2014

Fantastic trip, would certainly recommend it. It was extremely well organised, with all the pre trip info made the whole holiday so enjoyable. The island of Savai'i was beautiful, great snorkelling, great fale accommodation and of course the wonderful locals who all made our stay special. Big thanks to Frances and Ross, hope to be back one day soon

“Excellent holiday for family and friends. (9 all together)”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

Dear Ross and Francis,

Thankyou for a wonderful holiday in Samoa. The mix of accommodation styles and rest days suited everybody very well. It is impossible to choose a favourite part of the trip as there are so many wonderful places. The snorkeling at Vaisala was excellent, the boys even managed a couple of night snorkels. Warren took us to the crater and explained the formation of the islands and volcanos. He also let us know that the hills at the western end of the island were tougher than most of us were expecting. Everybody completed the ride around Savaii, but only 5 of us attempted the hill on Upolo. Shane made it all the way up.

We happened upon a BBQ at Satuiatua that was very cheap and excellent food. It is called Matais BBQ. 8 Tala for a chicken BBQ. I would really recommend this place for a lunch or dinner.

Peter and Sarah (the follow up bus drivers) invited us for a traditional Umu and plantation tour for 40 tala per person. It was a very nice way to finish in Savaii.

On the 4th ride day the turnoff to Faliolupo is not very obvious and one person missed the turn and ended up about at the bottom of the hill in the next village. Should have looked at the map a little better.

We went to both Peapea caves and the Lava tubes (at Aopo), the Lava tubes is much better value as it is a very significant cave which apparently nobody has ever been to the end of it. Cost is only 7tala.

Thankyou very much for the wonderful holiday,

Stephanie & Warren Gynther and family and friends.
