Our childhood was filled with the joys of reading books by Robert Louis Stevenson. It was so nice to take the guided tour through this magnificent mansion. The young man who told us about each of the rooms was very knowledgeable and made the experience very enjoyable. It is lovely to see the old smoking room with the fire place to no where which was just built in order to remind Robert of his Scottish homeland. It is just such a shame that he passed away so early no being able to fully enjoy his new paradise.
You can walk up to the top of the mountain where he is buried which gives you great views over Apia and the harbour. We had a walk through the lovely forest near the home and down to the creek which unfortunately wasn't flowing at the time.More
