My husband travels to Samoa for work regularly and needs to stay in the township close to his work. For businesss travel in the township this would be the best hotel to stay at. The rooms are very nice - large and modern fittings, great beds and good showers.

We stayed for 4 nights and the housekeeping was marginal, the washbasin and floor in the bathroom was never cleaned, our bathmat and handtowel were taken away the first day and we never got any back for the remaining stay - we did get our 2 towels replaced and bed changed each day.

On their website they have listed in the activities section, kidsclub, tennis court, internet and a gym, they have all these things onsite but NO GYM. When I went down to use the gym the first morning I was told there is no gym on site it is down the road in town. The tennis court is in great condition but unfortunately I din't have anyone to play with.

The pool is great - a nice setting with good shade available and very comfortable loungers. The entire pool is spotlessly clean. There is a nice bar by the pool that serve great cocktails and a good selection of meals. The breakfast buffet is not great but you can order of the a la carte which was okay.

All the staff were very friendly and even though I have complained about a couple of things I don't want to take anything away from the resort because I think they are things that can be easily fixed.

We really enjoyed Samoa it is a fantastic place for a holiday, we went over to Sinalei which was really beautiful and we had a fantastic meal. We also went to many cafes and restuarants while we were there and one that I really enjoyed was Paddles - their raw fish dish Oka was amazing.

Overall a good resort and I'm sure it will just keep on improving.

We were left in a situation where we had little choice as to where we could stay after the accommodation quoted by our travel agent was unavailable at the last minute, and we opted for here as it looked to be the best of what was available. Unfortunately, we didn't read the reviews on here first - until booked and paid and too late!

As it turned out, it wasn't too bad, but not 4 star as per their advertising. We had to ask to move rooms after the first night because of noise from outside of the hotel and the second night looking to be no different, we asked for a room change. It wasn't just the noise though, the room was quite dark, musty and the bed seemed to have a faintly unpleasant odour. Luckily there was another available and they moved us straight away in a friendly and courteous manner, so thanks for that! The servicing of rooms was erratic and on 3 occasions we had to chase things up, especially when it came to clean towels, which we didn't get till the evening.

Spending time around the pool was not really an option as there were not enough loungers for the size of the hotel and we actually only manage to do this once, and there weren't even that many people staying there.

We had a continental breakfast as part of our package and to be honest, it wasn't value for money at all, with limited and unpredictable choices available. We had dinner there a few nights, and what we had was very nice but again we found better value outside of the hotel.

For the most part, the staff were friendly and obliging. There was little in the way of sightseeing information or help, although it said that there would be someone there twice a day to help us, there wasn't. When we asked for specific advice/help we were referred to their own sightseeing tours which were very limited and there was no offer help with options, brochures or information.

In short, this would be a good stopover stay enroute for elsewhere in Samoa, but definitely not for a longer time. If you do decide to stay here for longer, a rental car is in our opinion a must and we would have been lost without ours which we picked up on arrival at the airport, which is the cheaper option we found.

Room Tip: Our initial room was at the rear which we thought would be quiet, but the front was more airy &...

The Tanoa in Apia has an excellent location. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well designed. The most basic room is comfortable for a family of four (if the kids don't mind sharing a bed). The styaff are extremely friendly and relaxed, The swimming pool, although not large, is very nice sourounded by good quality, comfortbale loungers. There is also a seperate kids pool. The bar/restuarant menu is great (I always get the lamb shank for dinner as it is the best I have ever tried) and there is an excellent kids menu (the pizza is especially good value and one is plenty for two children) You can easily walk tio the markets and supermarket as we do to stock up our fridge with beverages. I would most definatelt recommend this hotel as the one to stay in in your way in and out of Samoa (it is 60tala$35NZ approx, in a taxi to the airport but the hotel does do transfers (I am not sure of the cost) and it takes about 45mins to the airport. The rooms are anywhere from NZ 155 a night so excellent value for a hotel of this quality.

Its surprising to read the negative reviews about this place. However, we are glad to say we've never had a problem everytime we've stayed :) - in 2007 & 3 times so far this year...and another trip in 2 months time will see us back there again :)
In saying that...we mostly eat out with family/friends before returning to the hotel, but must say we have used the facilities well. The staff have always been great with us...especially Matalena? (she maybe on maternity leave now) and few others...cannot remember their names sorry :)
We'll see your wonderful team in 2months time! Faafetai lava! :)

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review for us. Thank you more importantly for your kind and encouraging words. Guest expectations vary (some being unreasonable) and in this industry, we cannot please everyone.

In any case, rest assured that your comments like all the others will be shared with the team specially Matalena who is back at work now. See you in October as likewise, we look forward to having you back.

- We only stayed at Tanola Tusitala Hotel one night to be closer to the airport for an early morning flight out.
- At reception the night before we went about arranging a wake-up call service and a taxi transfer to the airport, the lady at the desk confirmed the booking on the spot. The flight out was at 5am and we had asked to be woken at 2am. The morning came around and no one rang, we woke up 15 minutes late to our own alarm, when we went to the desk they claim they had no record of our booking or our wake-up call. They had not organised a taxi either, we ending up sharing a taxi ride with a solo traveller otherwise may have risked not getting to the airport on time.
The night before a bit of noise from the bar kept me a wake temporarily.
- On the plus side it was a comfortable bed, a clean and well presented room, modern.
- The hotel landscaping/layout was a comfortable and a lively oasis in Apia and we enjoyed some great cocktails beside the pool.
- There were heaps of parking spaces within the hotels gates.
- Located just a short stroll along the esplanade to the centre of Apia.
- Service either side of our wake-up call complaint was satisfying and agreeable.

This is a nice place to stay. The rooms are big but feel sort of empty. Provsion of soap and towels are irregular. The position of the air conditioner was poorly placed. The bed was two single beds put together - not comfortable when trying to sleep in the middle. The hotel staff are good and helpful. There is something wrong with breakfast in Apia as it was not really a good start for the day. Too little variety and you have to be persistent to get served.

The service we experienced on our family trip was shocking. There were three competent hotel staff met over the entire trip. Other staff were very incompetent, disrespectful and seemed to have no concern for us guests. Room keys were not working, having to walk to front desk 4 times daily to be reinstalled. Unable to get enough towels for showers and pool. Cleaning maids not doing a good job, beds made nicely thats about it. cups were only rinsed clean in bathroom sink.

Rooms was broken into despite there being a barbe wired fence surrounding the resort. Convieniently one of the gates were apparently left unlocked that night. Valuables, passport, handbag, camera and all washing left to dry outside all taken.

Food is very poor, many times waiting for 45min for one meal when not even busy. Twice I recieved food that I did not order, one meal being the spagetti bolognase (not nice at all) which the hotel staff insisted I eat even though I didnt order it as they said they were too busy. Ordered a coffee and breakfast did not arrive for 1hour. So I walked all the way to bar to get it. One girl on the bar, no other customers and she was just standing around, I had to ask again for my coffee to be made and it did not taste good!

This resort looks lovely, excellent use of space in rooms, very convienient, well designed. However this is all this resort has going for it. If the service, food, prices ect. had been up to the same standard I could have enjoyed my stay at the Tanoa. The Tanoa has ruined my time in Samoa and has made me not want to come back. And to top it all off they falsely charged over $350 NZ dollars to my visa. I have been trying to resolve this and have been calling the Tanoa, they just keep saying they will get back to me and are yet to do so and reimbersed my money!!! Shame on you Tanoa Tusitala!

Talofa!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for us. Please accept our sincerest apologies for your experiences when you stayed with us. We are at a loss as to how most of these incidents particularly those concerning our staff came to be during your stay.

Rest assured that your comments will be taken on board and discussed with all concerned so these may be corrected.

The supposedly "theft" in your room was referred to the police considering that your group had many guests who were not in house visit you at all hours. The night that valuables from your room were taken saw your room with no forced entry as your sliding door had been left open and unlocked.

Finally, the charges made on your card were for charges on a room that you guaranteed who left without proper settlement. We believe that our Executive Assistant Manager has been in contact with you and had advised you of the reason. We were also made to understand that you would sort this out with the person in your group concerned.

If there is anything further that you would require or need assistance with, please contact us directly at info@tanoahotels.ws. We will be more than glad and willing to work on your concerns.
