“Wonderful Family, Great location .”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

Myself , my 16 year old son and his friend stayed here for 10 days of body boarding. It is really tents on stilts. The Fales are basic , but very clean and right on the water. No TV , No Radio it was idyllic. Great location for Body Boarding or surfing. The family were wonderful. The kids to both my son and his friend took them several times searching for mussels, sea urchins which they cooked up for dinner , well the mussels. The Children were great .The meals were very good , most of the food they grow themselves. If you want 5 star Luxury then this is not for you, but if you want back to basics and love camping or are a camper then this is for you. Outdoor and indoor showers. We showered on the beach , read books by candle light and enjoyed very much the family company, they were wonderful. The two 16 years old ( My son and his Friend Nick ) loved it and did not miss computers I Phones or face book. Will we be back? A great location for surfers, backpackers or families or people that love the outdoor life .and the waves are right at your door step plus quality snorkelling and adventuring. Highly recommend . Stuart and Kent Mullins and Nick.

Whilst basic, this place had a lot going for it, most notably the friendly and genuine hospitality of the host family. The food (brekky and dinner provided) was great and comprised big serves, which suited my partner.

Its a budget accommodation, and thus you would want to be a person who is comfortable with a lack of electricity after dark and a short walk to the basic amenities. We adored the place; its quiet, you can swim and snorkel out front of the fales (at high tide its maybe 10 steps from the fale to the water?) and if you dont mind a bit of a paddle in the outrigger, you can get yourself out to the surf break independently.

This culturally rich, traditional and charming option would be great if you have young kids who like camping, swimming and running around outside amongst pigs and cows; if you are a surfer (Neil from Manoa Tours is the surf guide with the mostest); or is you're a young person or couple who likes to get a bit off the beaten track. I'd advise bringing a supply of snacks, books, and mozzie repellant/coils for dusk. There's a little deli about 10 minutes walk up the village road.

I stayed here with my husband and two children (6 and 8 y/o) for two weeks. This was our second time at Sina PJ, the previous trip was before the tsunami, so we were keen to see how the village had recovered. If you are looking for a traditional Samoan experience, look no further. The family have rebuilt lovely fales on the beach and a huge restaurant fale. We joke that there is no need for kids club here as the family have 5 children from 2 - 11 y/o whom our girls played with non-stop. Chasing pigs, catching chicks, running through the mangroves. They were constantly dirty, but happy as and a quick swim in the 28degree water sorted that out. We had traditional Samoan massage from a local man...keep in mind this is not the sheraton... we had another village lady make us woven back packs and fans. Nice to be able to put money into the village. We visited the school and took stationary supplies to them. The school is always grateful for such things and welcomes visitors. There is a small shop 5 mins walk away and a larger one about 10 minutes walk. We went to Church twice, once for the sunday service and another time to watch a "dance night" held between the local villages. You can experience as much or as little here, you just have to ask the owners Natina and Malae.
The snorkelling out front has been affected by the tsunami. You can follow the channel out and still see quite a variety of fish, but the coral close has been damaged. My husband surfed everyday. If you want to surf or snorkel or hike contact Neil and Galen at Manoa tours (manoatours@gmail.com). Really lovely experienced locals and great value for money. SIna PJ is a great place to 'be' and relax and learn from the locals. Cant wait to go back.

the family was friendly & rushed to get breadfruit & coconuts as soon as we arrived , but the atmosphere could be improved if they ate with you like a big family , the meals were tasty & ample to fill a hungry belly , the beach was unattractive & could be improved by some gardening but i couldn't find any real fault with the place considering they are still trying to bounce back from the tsunami . great for young surfy boys who only care about the waves , not the view .

It's a long walk from the stop where the bus lets you off on the main road. Once there the fales have all been rebuilt. When I was there construction of a seawall was in progress and the ocean quality was severely effected. The hosts were very nice and helpful and even gave us a ride to the main road on leaving. The food was fair at best. The nearest small shop was also a ways away so it is quite isolated.
