“Nice location. Average rooms.”
Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

Good location & meant to be one of the best on Savii. Not too bad as is a small ish resort. Had termites in the roof right above my bed that fell on my face in the night. Told house keeping in the morning who moved the bed & fumigated (I don't like chemicals like that being sprayed where we sleep) the room & moved my luggage to under the termites instead whilst we were out! But guess the termites & cockroaches come with the territory..... Selection & quality of food average but we ate across the Rd@the great (& good value for tala) pizza place most nights. Happy hour was good with 20% off. Would probably recommend staying here if visiting Savai as have heard some other places are worse..... Setes day tour was amazing & he is a great host (as per other comments on here). Also snorkeling in the area & the resort pool is good.

I had 4 nights at this resort and could have stayed longer. The fale (number 10) was comfortable with a good shower, comfortable bed and lovely verandah. The water was warm and clear, great snorkelling at all tide levels and times of the day. Food was excellent, fresh, well cooked and healthy. The staff were friendly and helpful without getting in my way. I will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Go for a beach fake. I chose number 10 away from the swimming pool

We went to Savaii after a week in Upolu and we had a wonderful stay in Le Lagoto. Our fale was too pretty for words. Although clustered close to each other, the fales still provide privacy and you feel like you are on your own little paradise.
The beach itself was a bit disappointing, the corals were all dead. But kayaking around is still quite enjoyable.
Food is a bit disappointing as well but the great cocktails more than make up for it. And they are cheap!
Service is wonderful as you can expect from the very nice Samoans.
Our package included a free massage and it was wonderful and relaxing.
We made a mistake of not pre-booking a rental car and found out they have all sold out. We were stuck but other beaches were just a walk away. There are better beaches further to the left of Le Lagoto and for a very small fee, we rented a basic fale by the beach for a day.
They have a better beach but I want my first class accommodation and that's what you get at Le Lagoto.

We are a family of 4, with 2 young girls aged 7 and 10. After staying a week in Upolo at Sa Moana Resort (see separate review), we arrived at Le Lagoto for 6 nights. Initially we were a little bit disappointed, I think because after the casual relaxed atmosphere at Sa Moana, Le Lagoto felt a bit "resorty". I spent months researching this holiday and in hindsight I think we may have been happier next door at Savaii Lagoon Resort, but this is purely down to personal choice. We did enjoy our time at Le Lagoto, the staff are friendly and courteous, the meals are fantastic and very reasonably priced. My husband developed a bad ear infection the first day we were here and one of the resort staff, Siti, accompanied him to the hospital which was a huge help. This sort of service goes way above and beyond what we expected and just goes to show how kind and caring the Samoan people are. Based on the reviews on Trip Advisor we opted for a garden fale, however I think it was probably worth the extra for the beach front. Although you do get the same view (from a distance), the garden bungalows I think seemed a bit darker and it would have been nice to sit outside in the evening and enjoy a drink or two right in the front row. The beach is fabulous, there is a large expanse of shallow water at all tides which is wonderful for the kids. Only a few steps further out is a reef with ok snorkelling. There is also a large sandy lagoon in front of the fales which is very deep and fantastic for swimming. We did a trip to the blow holes and the waterfalls which were well worth seeing. We organised this with some other guests and hired a taxi for half a day. We went out twice on snorkel trips with Dive Savaii who are just across the road. This was well worth it, very reasonably priced and once you get out into the deep the coral and snorkelling is really lovely. Our girls had a ball messing about with Alex and Leo the snorkel guides. It was handy having the pizza place across the road. Really good prices and they deliver to the resort so you can eat your pizza at the pool or on the beach. We had a great time and met some lovely people, I would recommend this resort, especially to families with young children.

We stayed here for a week in August and really enjoyed it. The fales were perfect with your own veranda. The menu choice was really good, heaps to choose from. The water was crystal clear and hubby who is a swimmer swam up and down for ages each day. Great going on the 'peekaboo' kayaks looking down seeing all the wonderful coral & fish. Food was expensive but then most Pacific Island restaurants are the same. Not sure why everyone raves about next door Savaii Laggon Resort, the choice at lunch was from 3 mains only and the cabins did not have a proper area to sit infront. I would call these beach bachs, inside you could be in NZ not Samoa and I don't think they are alot cheaper then Lagoto.

If only you could get holidays like this on prescription! Stayed here for five days and the resort completely met our high expectations. Great fales with a real Samoan feel, but with all the comforts you would want. The location couldn't be better and the quality of service makes you feel very well looked after. Would completely recommend.

Le Lagoto does not advertise in Jason's free Visitor Guide to Samoa. Hence you will not find the resort on any of the maps in the guide. However, you cannot miss it, as it's right on the main highway in the village of Fagamalo opposite a pizza place and a dive shop. Its highway location does not mean your sleep will be disturbed, as there is virtually no traffic at night. You are more likely to be kept awake by the palm fronds brushing against your fale or the rain splattering on its roof. The resort offers free parking, although space is limited, but so is the number of fales (10). We stayed in an ocean view fale and found it very spacious and furnished with all the basics including tea & coffee making facilities, a fridge, air-conditioning and even a TV (with 2 channels and poor reception). The air-conditioning was a bit tricky to operate, it tended to send blasts of icy cold air towards the bed at regular intervals. The bathroom was equipped with toilet, basin and shower and the usual bathroom amenities. There were blossoms on the basin to add a special touch, but unfortunately ants appreciated this touch as well. Ants also featured on the verandah's lounge chairs, so that we preferred to sit on the plastic chairs that were also part of the verandah furniture. The resort offers a by-the-basket laundry service for $20 (Tala), which is a nice change from the per-piece service offered elsewhere. Mineral water, on the other hand, is expensive. The resort charges $12 for a 2-litre bottle which you could buy for $5 at the market. If meals are not included in your package, be prepared to pay a smallish fortune, although the Fiafia night buffet including song and dance at $65 is a bargain. There is a Happy Hour between 4 and 6 pm, with beer and cocktails available at a 20% discount. It seemed to me that the cocktails' alcohol content was reduced by at least the same percentage. The resort has a small spa with a variety of treatments at international rates. Internet is available at $17/hour. Since Le Lagoto's star attractions are its beautiful sand beach and clear, warm waters teeming with fish, you would expect snorkelling gear to be available and its use free of charge, but this is not the case. Equipment can be hired across the road for a small fee. Staff at Le Lagoto were mostly polite rather than friendly, it seemed they were unsure how guests expected to be treated. I couldn't make up my mind whether the resort was trying to position itself as a family resort or a couple's retreat, there were elements of both. But it appeared that everyone was having a good time, and I would certainly go back for a short stay of three or four nights.
