I loved this hotel. We only stayed one night as part of a group tour. There were greenhouses throughout the valley on the winding roads up to this hotel. Lovely drive from Banos. The Hacienda was remote and peaceful and quiet. I was told this was a former ranch. The main house seemed as though it could have once been a large ranch house. The outlying buildings do have much smaller bedrooms than the main house. One in particular was barely able to hold two beds and a couple suitcases. We had a family-style dinner, which was delicious and then wandered the grounds. The view of the volcano is terrific from the hotel grounds. At dusk the fireflies came out. I had no idea fireflies existed at these high altitudes. I do not know the prices of the lodging since our stay was part of a tour and pre-paid (as were our meals). We did buy a couple glasses of wine that were expensive for Ecuador but had no other charges or extra costs. It was very cool in the evening in September at this altitude and the big quilts in the rooms were certainly needed. I would love to stay at this Hacienda again (if I could find it on my own).
