This new hostel is incredibly clean and has the most comfortable beds I have slept in in all of South America. At $7.80 a night for a dorm, it is an awesome value. Breakfast is included and is way above average. It's a bit further from the center of town than most of the other hostels/hotels but it's worth the extra 5-minute walk. Would highly recommend this place.

Elba and family have the most gorgeous property in all of Baños—inside and out. It begins right at the entrance of their yard and trickles easily into their cabin-like interior balanced with modern eco-touches and recessed LED lighting (solar and wind powered) and gorgeous wood flooring. Their kitchen area is large and incidentally the communal space in the house. Though there are additional communal spaces to lounge in on all three floors, the wifi is strongest in the kitchen so everyone congregates around food and internet time.

The bedrooms, bathrooms and amenities are all as pictured and described. Having stayed an extra few nights, I was able to experience both the dorm bunks as well the single private rooms; both just as comfortable and spacious.

This place is a home; and not in that 21st century hotel marketing kind of way either. You're really in Elba's home. They have two multilevel homes on the property which divide the host family with the their guests. The backyard between them both is guarded by their always lovable and lazy (doesn't play catch) black cocker spaniel —Blakie.

When you plan for Baños, one generally plans "okay how am I going get to all the extreme sports I want to do, do day hikes, visit all the waterfalls and still make the six hour journey to the beach within my allotted time?" Well, Molino Blanco makes it so that you feel like that inner conflict is a no-brainer. I stayed back for a solid week, skipped the beach, and helped myself to some of the most genuine people in Ecuador. The family invited me to clean berries for their homemade jam for breakfast, played with Elbas's three month old granddaughter, chatted up the cleaning staff and got some great stories, was invited to the town's local micro-brew pub by Jimmy, and even went salsa/reggaetone dancing with family friends. By the end, I was going "Montañita who?"I even went as far as helping the families' youngest with her English homework and going out to the plaza with Jimmy to pick up fresh pork for my last night's dinner.

Sometimes you're just lucky and you rub people the right way and they treat you as such. However, Elba and crew do this on the day-to-day. I'm already planning my return because when you make family you make family.

Oh yea, and if you want to jump off bridges, go rafting, rent a bike so that you can do the Routa de Las Cascadas— Jimmy and Elba have you covered.

Room Tip: I communal rooms on the main floor and on the private room on the lower level.

This hostel / b & b opened its doors in
December 2012 - so feels fresh and new! Everything has been done to a high standard - the rooms are very comfortable (the upstairs double is great for a couple) and the sheets are cotton (not scratchy synthetics!) and the towels fluffy (not like sandpaper like in some other places!). It's a short walk from the centre of town, but this is better as it means it's quieter. Elba, the lovely hostel owner, really tries hard to make sure you enjoy your stay, and was very helpful to us with trying to work out our onward travel plans! Would definitely recommend as a great place to stay!

For tourists that are looking to stay in a cozy place at an amazing affordable price, La Casa del Molino Blanco is the best option. I found this B&B very charming, spotless, and eco-friendly. It is awesome that this place gets its electricity from solar panels and a wind mill. My bed was very comfortable and clean. For three nights I slept like a baby, and the best part was waking up in the morning to be treated with a very delicious breakfast. For sure they know how to paper their guests. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Indeed, they were very resourceful in providing information of the area. This B&B offers space and comfort. I loved my stay at La Casa del Molino Blanco, and I highly recommend it.

La Casa del Molino Blanco was a great place to stay in Baños. Juergen and Elba are extremely friendly and helpful hosts...and every day we were looking forward for the latest breakfast variety! Best croissants - and what a selfmade Jam!
The place is hidden and cosy with great facilities. Big kitchen, nice garden with tables and hammock, WiFi, Videos, library, they even produce their own electricity with sun collectors and a wind mill (therefore the name Molino Blanco).
It seems to be still unknown. Wherus other hostels were totally packed, we had the whole place just for us!
You won't find anything else around for such a good value. Promise.
