A beautiful historic hacienda with antiques everywhere you look. Rooms are comfortable with fireplaces and hot water bottles in your bed. Clean bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The grounds are nicely landscaped. If the clouds cooperate, you get a stunning view of the volcano and you look waaaay down into the valley from the grounds. The drive up to the hacienda is narrow and winding but very beautiful. Good food in the restaurant. There is an indoor swimming pool, but it was closed when we were there.

This place was lovely. The hacienda is very old and filled with interesting antiques. The grounds are beautifully maintained and fun to explore. The rooms were clean and had wood burning fireplaces for heat. They also gave us hot water bottles for our feet which was a fun treat. The food here was pretty good especially the chocolate cake. The staff was incredibly organized and helpful. The drive up the hacienda is steep but well worth the effort. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Rooms, heated pool and fabulous antiques in the main lodge. Large rooms with wood fire place, they start the fire will you are at dinner. Hot water bottle under the blanket plus the fire make for a restful night. The food, dinner and breakfast were very good. My steak was cooked to the exact temperature. Wish we had time to go horseback riding or paragliding.

This hotel is surrounded by lush green mountains and some rooms have views of those as well as the Tungurahua volcano. Our room was average size with an updated bath but the bathroom had no exhaust and water pressure in the shower with hot water was low. The hotel gardens have some flowers, and there is a small creek on one edge. One can spot horses and cows grazing on the land beyond. Wifi was available but worked for some in the rooms and for others in the reception area. Heating is thru a fireplace turned on when guests are having dinner. Hot water bottles are supplied to warm your feet or comfort your back. There is an indoor pool next to the spa area in its own building.
Our stay with GATE1 included dinner which was decent and breakfast which wasn't buffet style so choices for vegetarians were limited to fruit bowl and juice.

We stayed here one night in March, 2013 on a Gate 1 tour. Fabulous property inside and out. Well manicured and landscaped grounds, somewhat rustic but very comfortable, spotlessly clean and spacious rooms, each with a fireplace (you will need it.) Elegant bar and lounge area filled with antiques and curiosities. The owner (who tends his own bar) said he likes to collect old things. Great views of Tungurahua which was belching puffs of steam and smoke about every 10 minutes when we were there. Best views from the lounge and from the adjacent spacious lawn. Watching it belch glowing clouds of smoke after nightfall was awesome.....until you realize that if it had a catastrophic explosion the burning ash cloud would be on you before you could get away since the cloud would move at over 200 miles per hour. What, me worry? There is a heated indoor pool, a spa and a gym. Use of these facilities is gratis for hotel guests and about $12 for day use by visitors not staying at the hotel. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use them. Food was excellent and plentiful as well. How Gate 1 finds these places I don't know. Highly recommended.

I stayed here in October with a Gate1 travel tour. the grounds were very pretty and overlooked the Tungurahua volcano. We were lucky enough to have a perfect view most of the day with hardly any clouds. We sat on some steps and watched the sunset color the sky pink around the volcano. Then that night, we sat outside and could hear some faint rumbling with little bursts of red lava flows. It was amazing and one of my favorite memories from Ecuador. I enjoyed exploring the property and seeing all of the antiques. The actual rooms were pleasant enough. We had a small fireplace and our beds were heated by hot water bottles. Our room was rather large. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The Wifi was decent. Overall, I was happy with the stay.

Room Tip: Try to get one with a fireplace.

We live in Quito since 2012 and we visited since tens of haciendas North and South of Quito. In our way South to Cuenca we decided to stop one night at the LEITO hacienda with our kids. Averagely we have been very disappointed ... it is generally far too expensive in relation to what you get. The room we got was enormous (lots useless space) and COLD ... the fireplace did not work at all being the volume to heat so big. The personnel provided a heater but again completely useful. The buildings are well but the room finishing were certainly not worth the price we paid for the night. Swimming pool not attractive, steam bath below expectations (not hot enough and no eucalyptus leaves), gym machines just crappy and unusable. Personnel was just ok but not willing to welcome you in the right manner at your arrival and during your stay. Not really interested about you as usually local people do, especially after the money you have paid ... The food was again below expectations. In conclusion, I would not recommend this place to anybody.
