Jesse and I just loved our stay at La Casa Verde. Doug & Rebecah go out of their way to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible. Our bedroom was a great size with a beautiful view - it was the most comfortable bed we have slept in while traveling! The breakfast is AMAZING - super fresh & plenty of it. Doug was really helpful with advice on tour companies to go with when rafting/biking etc. Overall, such a good place to relax and meet great people aswell...we highly recommend staying here, you are sure to love it!

Rebecca and Doug run a welcoming, eco-friendly hostel which was the perfect place to stay in Banos. The rooms are filled with light, beautiful and clean with great views of the green hills. Breakfast everyday was unbelievable! You always had a choice of two fresh fruit drinks (passion fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice or my favorite banana milk shake). Fresh bread, homemade jams, honey, cheese, avocado and tomato welcomed you every morning. But that's not all. There was yogurt and granola, fresh fruit salad with wonderful pineapple and as much tea and coffee as you need.

Doug helped arrange canyoning trips for us as well as massages. The masseuse will come to the hostel for a half hour or hour long massage at very reasonable prices. Afterwards you can melt into the hammock on the deck and list to the river roaring by.

The hostel isn't located IN Banos, it's about three quarters of a mile outside of town. But taxi's only cost $1.50 or you can walk, and it is worth it! Doug and Rebecca were always willing to call a taxi for us into town if needed.

I would head back to La Casa Verde in a heartbeat. It was so hard to leave! Thanks for a great stay!

Similar to many reviews before, we were only planning on staying a few days and we stayed 8 nights. Rebecca and Doug are wonderful hosts and they have done an amazing job to make sure your stay in Baños is delightful. In addition to the many activities in and around Baños, we enjoyed hanging out at Casa Verde and enjoying the sound of the river and eating the delicious food.

My wife and I are traveling for the month after a long year in our respective vocations. We prebooked some of the trip, but decided to plan-as-you-go during the middle 2 weeks. We read about La Casa Verde online as we were about to leave Quito for Baños, and we were interested in the Eco aspect of the lodging. We booked a few nights over the phone, and made the journey.

After the 5hr bus, paying a mere 1.50$ for a few kilometer taxi ride was easy - especially given our Spanish is nonexistent. Rebecca met us at the door, and was very welcoming. Our room was clean and well lit, beds ridiculously comfortable, and the wifi and hot water were a welcome treat. We stayed an extra night, ate dinner one of the nights there, and enjoyed the large and nutritious breakfast that was included each morning. The staff made helpful suggestions about things to do around town, set up activites through reputable tour operators, and even would get the best masseuse in town to personally come to the hotel to give spa treatments. If I need say more, Doug and I played guitar one of the nights, as my wife and I enjoyed as few (cheap) beers.

The location, a few kilometers out of town, was never an issue as there was very little noise and the view of the river and mountains was great. Doug or Rebecca would also call a cab at the drop of a hat. Our opinion: stay here. And add a day or two longer than you were first planning.

We stayed here with my family only one night in June. Originally we had planned to stay there for three nights by unfortunately our son got sick. Next time we come back to Ecuador we will definitely go back to La Casa Verde!
Both Rebecca and her husband were very helpful and helped us plan our stay in Baños. All there suggestions for excursions and also restaurants were excellent.
The room is very spacious and clean with a great view of the river and nature. The breakfast is delicious with plenty of options.
Thanks for such a great experience!

Room Tip: La Casa Verde is not in downtown Baños. Getting there is simple because taxis can pick you up and it only takes few minutes to get to downtown. You can also walk to downtown.
