We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights during our visit to Ushuaia. The hotel is very beautiful and the breakfast area is surrounded by large windows with beautuful views of the town. The hotel is very well decorated and extremely clean. Food can only be consumed in the breakfast area and no food can be taken in the rooms. Also the rooms do not have any coffee/tea facility. It should also be noted that water in the bathroom cannot be drunk, so make sure you stock on water bottles at the nearby supermarket.
The owner was very kind and helped us deciding which walks to do. He also kindly organised for us to be picked up by a taxi at the airport. There is WiFi in the hotel and there is a small PC for use by the guests. Overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed here for five nights over Christmas. Luís and family are lovely, and this is a very tranquil, quiet place with views over the Beagle Channel and to the Andes, a pleasant garden and the welcome is warm. It is safe, you will be comfortable, and it provides a good base for exploring Tierra del Fuego.

However, go into this knowing a few things: the fixtures and fittings are a little tired, my window had several cracks (there are terrific winds here), the moulding around the bathroom door was falling off, the main cistern was behind the wall, so every time anyone flushed or washed it refilled, the access door to it had a loose piece of tape which flapped noisily all night when there was wind (see above!). Breakfast was pretty miserly, adequate but uninspired. There is a fridge where you can keep your own food, but it desperately needed cleaning. My brother's blind broke (evidently not for the first time) and it took a while for it to be fixed, and another guest was heard to complain that the toilet wasn't flushing. The toiletries supplied are sachets of shampoo, the shower had tiles missing and it leaked onto the floor, there were signs indicating that you should not take too long in the shower, the floors are thin and creaky so you can hear people moving about and coming and going.

There are other things of a similar sort which reveal that the upkeep and guest focus is not a high priority. In their defence I should also say that on Christmas Eve, the children brought us each a Benjamin of champagne and a special, individually wrapped biscuit, and there was special cake for breakfast. We treated all these failings as idiosyncrasies rather than irritations, but it was rather pricey for what it was. Ushuaia is a bit more expensive than elsewhere largely because everything has to be shipped in, so this may not have been way off.

You will need to weigh up what your priorities are - if you want perfection then this is not the place. If you want a warm welcome, friendly and accommodating staff and a chilled, relaxed atmosphere, then you could do worse. It's your call!

Room Tip: There are basement rooms, so check where yours is before confirming your booking.

This is not a fancy luxury hotel, rather a clean, reasonable place for the modest traveler who needs a decent place for a good night's sleep, a shower and a good breakfast. In a quite location, yet only a ten-minute walk into the active tourist town. Owner very personable and full of helpful information.

The design of the room was nice but barking dogs were a pain.
Also, the safety handle in the shower came off in my hand as the blue mat slipped out from under me. Luis told me you have to let the mat sit for a bit before you go in. Not a great way to handle the issue.
But the staff were very nice and the location was not optimum but acceptable.
I thought the artwork was terrific.
I like Luis very much but would not recommend this spot unless some changes were made.

The Foike is a comfortable hosteria in a relatively quiet location, a four block climb from the main street.

The owner Luis, and his daughter, gave us good advice and were helpful in arranging trips and transport. However after we had left for the airport they discovered that we had left our camera behind and immediately followed us in their car and were able to return it just after we had checked in. We were extremely grateful for this unsurpassed service!

The breakfast was adequate and room (in the attic) large and comfortable but was in need of some decoration and the window blinds were old and unreliable.

We enjoyed our visit to the Foike and would willingly recommend it.
