“Isolated charm in Ushuaia.”
Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

It's not often I write a review about a place that I have not stayed. However, Cabanas del Beagle are worth the time to write about.

They are beautiful, luxury cabins and the warm and friendly owner, Alejandro, and his delightful family took the time to show us around them. Each cabin is full of character and charm and he has made the most of the remaining vegetation to make the cabins feel isolated from the busy tourist town of Ushuaia.

We only wish they had been available for our time there!

my two male friends and i a woman stayd at the cabanas 4 nights, already 6 years ago. now i find myself going back to ushuaia for a trip to the antarctic. i needed some info from alejandro and he replyed so fast as if we were there yesterday. yes i agree with every thing any one ever said. the 3 of us felt like the 3 little bears in that great suit with whirlpool, kitchen fireplace and a fantastic few over the harbor. his family is so charming i will be very happy to see them again. gerta muellner usa, perry comeau, david godfry uk.

I love Cabanas del Beagle. Alejandro and his kind family graciously welcomed us to their meticulously, lovingly built cabins. Alejandro built the cabins himself and paid attention to every detail. The cabins are spacious and have many amenities: heated floors, great bathroom, fast wireless (in each cabin), fully appointed mini-kitchen, excellent hot showers. Alejandro brings each cabin fresh home-baked bread and jam every night -- perfect for breakfast and even packing a lunch for the day's adventures. The cabins are set back from the town, which my fiancee and I found to be a relief; the town itself is fairly touristy, and these cabins provide a great place to rest and relax while still being quite close to town for dinner, tours, etc. If you want a more touristy experience, stay in town; if you want a more adventurous yet comfortable and upscale experience, consider this place.

Bottom line: Come here if you want to stay in a gorgeously and meticulously created cabin designed for rest and comfort, and from which you can get out and see all that the Ushuaia area has to offer. It has an adventurous spirit to it while still being incredibly comfortable and worth every penny. You won't want to leave! I can't wait to go back. =)

I went with my fiancee, but this place would also work for small groups and families.

This was one of the most pleasant and relaxing places I have ever stayed! My husband, daughter and I spent 3 nights here and could have stayed a week. I find it hard to add much to what others have written as I had a similar experience: I loved this place and recommend it highly!
The cabin was beautifully designed and constructed, chicly rustic with attention to every detail. Every day I looked forward to coming back after our day trips and relaxing in our very cozy but spacious cabana---in front of a roaring fire with a nice glass of wine. I also loved the heated floors and the amazing picture windows which provided a very nice view of Beagle Channel. It was hard to pull ourselves away to go out for dinner.
The kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed plus some extras, such as Alejandro's homemade bread and delicous homemade marmalade. He would discreetly drop off a fresh loaf every day.
Alejandro and his son both went out of their way to help us arrange side trips, make restaurant reservations or whatever else we needed. Alejandro even took us to and from the airport as well as giving us a lift to town when we were headed out for dinner. They were so kind and helpful but never intrusive. Our stay here was totally stress-free.
I would love to come back and stay here again without question. It was an experience in and of itself! Beautiful and relaxing---I felt so much at home here.

This place is amazing. When we arrived, the owner was there to great us and show us to our Cabanas. It was preheated which immediately created a welcoming atmosphere.
The view from the Cabanas is fantastic, overlooking the bay. They are mezzanine style, with the sleeping area upstairs and the chilling area with fire pit and kitchen on the main floor.
The Cabanas have all necessary amenities for self-catering. Of course you can always ask Alejandro -the owner- if you need anything more. Every evening, he will bring you his still warm home baked bread which tastes great.
The owner is really helpful and nice. He invited us and the other guests for the New Year's Eve BBQ with his family and it was a wonderful evening with tons of meat, wine, beers and Fernet-Coke! more about spending the new year's eve in Ushuaia soon on our travel blog breakawaytravellers.com
It really deserves its first place on trip advisor and you definitely should stay there if you have the chance to visit Tierra del Fuego.

Cool architectural details (rustic-industrial, for lack of a better term), beautifully and sturdily built cabins, amazing picture windows (ask Alejandro how they were installed), heated stone floors, a roaring fire, a wonderfully stocked kitchen, every amenity one could possibly need, and a modest host who brings freshly baked bread every night...

I can't add much more to what the others here have written. I don't often write reviews, but I had to after staying at Cabanas. My husband, brother, and SIL ended up staying in for dinner for four nights. We had our routine of being out all day, hitting the grocery store for food and inexpensive but tasty red wine, building a fire while cooking, munching on Alejandro's beautiful bread and then retiring by the fire to talk late into the night, watching the sun finally setting (around 10:30-11 pm). Alejandro is great...unobtrusive but helpful and available when needed. He clearly is very proud of his place and his hometown. We tried to leave the cabanas in the same state as we found them - spotless and not a thing out of place.

Muchos gracias, Alejandro. If we ever find ourselves in Tierra del Fuego again, we will surely stay at Cabanas!

Room Tip: Request cabin 2 - it is set higher up than the other two so the view is slightly better.

We stayed 2 nights and contemplating missing our flight home to stay there forever. The price is above the average cabin price for Ushuaia but it is worth every single penny! I cannot stress enough how gorgeous the cabins are, how lovely the view is, and, most importantly, what an unbelievably nice man Alejandro is. Without being intrusive on our privacy he made us feel like we were the best of friends. He delivered freshly baked bread (and sometimes other treats) to our door every evening, drove us into town and their airport himself so that we didn't need to get a taxi, etc. The detailing in the cabins is just astonishing -- it was so comfortable and beautiful that we actually cancelled our plans to go out to dinner each night and instead opted to cook in so that that we could maximize the amount of time spent in the cabin. The cabins are up the hill of Ushuaia but that was not a problem, it was a <20 peso cab ride from the waterfront or a 20-25 minute walk (we did both).

I would come back to Ushuaia just to stay with Alejandro in these cabins!

Room Tip: All three of the cabins are identical
