The service was incredible, from the time we walked in Noelia was wonderful. Our rooms were great (we traveled with friends), very clean, great jacuzzi tub, with the most beautiful view of the Beagle Channel and the mountains, it looked like a painting. The location was just outside of town but only a 5 minute cab ride away from the main street in town. The best part was after a day of sightseeing you could come back and enjoy one of the best dinners ever, Sebastian is a genious in the kitchen, we had dinner at the hotel every night, no reason to go anywhere else. Our thanks to Noelia, Sandra, Maia and Sebastian for making our stay one of the best ever.

We stayed (3 cousins) at the Tierra de Leyendas in Ushuaia late January 2009 [26-29] and had a wonderful time. The hotel is a wonderful property with great views but what sets it apart is impeccable service by the owners and their crew.

What is great about this place?
Great Service
- I called and emailed the hotel a few times prior to my visit from the US. Maria was eager, knowlegable and patient in answering all my questions (Amenities, Transport, Activities, Restaurant Recommendations etc).
- Complimentry glass of wine on arrival and an personal overview of the Ushuaia and the hotel
- Personal service throughout our stay (Thanks to Sebastin and his crew)

Great Food
- The breakfast was fresh and the dinner [we had king crabs and fish] cooked by Sebastin was great (as good if not better that the other nice restaurants in town)
- Good Winelist

Good Amenities
- Comfortable rooms that are nicely decorated
- Patio with a nice view of the Beagle Channel, to put up your feet with a glass of wine at the end of a long days's hike
- Wireless Internet
- decent collection of books and DVDs

Is there a reason I should stay at any other place?
Not for me but here is what you may want to consider
- the hotel is not downtown but is a very short cab ride away. I personally preferred being a little away from downtown
- the bathroom in the room i stayed in was relatively small. I say this as I am used to the hotels in the US and I know some people are picky
- there is no swimming pool or health club. This is important for some people (especially if you are travelling with kids) but was not a factor for us

Thanks to Maria and Sebastin for creating a beautiful hotel. Thanks for making our stay really memorable.

I would highly recommend Tierra de Leyendas.

Hosteria Tierra de Leyendas deserves every bit of it’s very high TripAdvisor rating, (#1 at the time of this writing.) and we would stay no where else if we return to Ushuaia. We stayed here for two nights in early March 2009. This charming and romantic little B&B is located up out of town in a quiet, upscale residential neighborhood. (Constuction noise previously mentioned here was non-existant.) The views are stunning of the Beagle Channel and the mountains beyond on one side of the building, and the town of Ushuaia and mountains behind it from the other. When we walked into the reception area upon arrival, with the Beagle Channel and mountains beyond visible through the large windows, my wife gushed, “Oh, wow!” She doesn’t do that very often. We voted this the best hotel during our 3 week visit to South America, and the only one I have given a 5 star rating to.
The motive of the building is wood and you get a quiet, out of the way, wilderness feeling. Our rooms were ready upon arrival about mid day. Our grown son was traveling with us, so we had two rooms, booked directly with the hotel via email and fax. They offered, and we accepted, a taxi waiting for us at the airport for no additional fee. When we got off the plane, there was the driver with a sign with our name on it. For going into town, they will call a cab for you; the ride into town is about 10 minutes and costs about 15 pesos.
Tierra de Leyendas is Land of Legends, and this hotel has many artifacts, artwork, and books relating to the indigenous people who inhabited this area before discovery by western European explorers. Rooms are named, ours was Las Yamanas, the name of the ancient people. It is a large corner room with a king bed, beautifully appointed. A very large window gives incredible views to the Beagle Channel and the awesome mountains beyond. Small glaciers can be seen, and the clouds and ever changing lighting presents beautiful scenery. Many pictures were taken from our window. The rooms not facing the Beagle Channel have beautiful views of Ushuaia and across to the sharply rising mountains behind, though if possible, I would recommend booking one with the Beagle Channel view.
The bathroom in this room is a stunner. New tile and marble throughout, and a jetted shower with multiple heads spraying water from multiple directions. Robes are hanging in the closet.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got many helpful recommendations. They arranged to have a rental car delivered to us and it was an easy drive to Parque Nacional Tierra de Fuego. The roads (except those in the center of town) are hard packed dirt and rock, very easily negotiable, even during a rainstorm.
Sebastian is an excellent chef. The first night we stayed there for dinner, and it was absolutely outstanding. During check in, they noticed from my passport that the day was my birthday. To our surprise, we were presented with a white chocolate mousse cake after dinner, with one of those trick candles that you can’t blow out. Nice touch! Breakfasts were very good, and featured everything we could want.
The computer located in the reading room was down most of the time, which is a continuing problem in the southern most city in the world, as one might imagine. There are some cyber café’s in town.
There are some nice looking hotels up the hill in back of downtown which I had considered, but we were very pleased with Tierra de Leyendas, and would stay no where else if we returned to Ushuaia.

Localized on a bute , the view is very agréable. The rooms are clean and nicely décorated as the living rooms where each day you can find on your breakfast boards a new information about Ushuaia's history or fauna and flora. The food is worthy of the great masters and at a very correct price. The owners and their staff are of a rare kindless .Difficile to say what we liked the least ...
Pleasure is to feel good with yourself and others. It not always a question of money!!
So......If you go to Ushuaia, try this place you won't regret it.

Our arrival at Tierra de Leyendas was very good with a warm welcome and good information of what to do in and around Ushuaia. Unfortunately we did not book one of the rooms with a sea view - so we had to live with a much inferior view. The room was large and nicely decorated - although the bathroom was not very practical (especially the stylish washbasin is a bit small). There was a TV and DVD player in the room with lots of DVDs (free of charge). The breakfast was good and when we departed early in the morning the owner got up to prepare breakfast. So far the good things about Tierra de Leyendas. What we did not like - is the location. First of all, the web site gave us the impression of being much closer to the sea than they actually are. Secondly, the hotel is quite far from downtown which requires a taxi for all movements - although Taxis are cheap. The real issue is the dirt roads around the hotel. You can not even walk around the house or walk to the nearby supermarket without getting really dusty - and don't even think of walking there when you have contact lenses.
Taking the extremely friendly owners/staff, the nicely decorated room with no view and the really miserable dirt roads around the house into consideration - this place is clearly much overpriced. We did not use their restaurant as the prices were much higher than the better restaurants downtown - including the taxi fare. Another negative is that they charged us with 2/3 of the total price three month in advance - I would find a one night charge 4 weeks in advance more than appropriate.
I would recommend this place to a friend only when they would lower their rate by at least 30% - but by reading the other reviews there seem to be lots of people who felt otherwise ...

WELCOME TO USHUAIA! The first thing you will notice that almost every road in this city are dirt roads, not just were we are located. We have built our hotel on a touristic area, where many hotels have also built their hotels because of the stunning views to the Beagle Channel, and running for the noisy and crowded downtown main streets. The place is well know as “River Pipo Farm” as it used to be a farm and now is the newest are of Ushuaia city with nice new houses and hotels. Our place is located on a small hill overlooking the Beagle Channel, and it is approximately 300metres from the seashore (there is a road, a river and a small forest in between). As you said, taxis are so cheap safe and friendly that we really think is a much better option to stay out of downtown.
I have to apologize by not agreeing with your review, as there are no rooms with no-views. You may have not a view to the Beagle Channel, but you had a nice window overlooking the city and the mountains. I do not agree also about the restaurant prices as our restaurant has lower to equal prices than restaurants downtown that serves the same type of food. All you can eat (the cheapest places to eat in town are around $50/60 pesos with no drinks- at our place the average cost per dinner including wine and beverages is $100.- pesos eating king crab, lamb, trout, black hake) But, if you did not try the food I guess you did not have the chance to understand the service. I also do not agree about being overpriced. Running a 5 room boutique hotel with all the services that you did not mention is not cheap and our prices is much lower that any other 3 star hotel in Ushuaia that does not provide our personalized service. Ushuaia is an expensive city to live and sometimes tourists have the idea that the prices are high only for tourists; the prices are high because the cost of living in Ushuaia is high. If you are looking for lower prices when travelling a good idea is to come from mid April to the end of September (Usd125.- dollars per night including breakfast)
As simply Maria, I would like to say that your review made me really sad, because we meet every guest, we ask and try all day hard to make everyone happy and I would have appreciate that you should have talked to us or make a suggestion at our place. Maybe you did not realize it, but we really tried to make it special for you. I know I have to understand that for you it is just a hotel stay, but for us it is about our life.

The accolades of previous reports still apply to this charming family hotel. We stayed unfortunately for only 2 nights following an Antarctic cruise and were warmly welcomed into the soul of this delightful family. What Maia lacks in height, she makes up for in personality and no-one could be more helpful in providing sound advice regarding places to visit or where to eat. But then, why eat elsewhere when Sebastian is on hand to provide such fantastic dinners? Every single course at dinner was outstanding in its blend of delicate flavours and the prawns with a gentle curry sauce were to die for.
A very friendly hotel with superb staff that saw to every request in a cheerful manner. Well deserving of its previous TripAdvisor awards.

during planning our trip to Patagonia we found this beautiful little hotel in "trip advisor" and thanks to the ratings we decided to take the chance. We were not dissapointed at all. The hotel is small but very cosy, much better than the unpersonal big tourist factories and gave us from the very first moment the feeling to be "at home". The welcoming was really nice and truely ment. The room was furnished very nice and together with the outstanding view on the beagle channel we just felt to be in the right place. The owner Sebastian is chef de cuisine and served us a delicious dinner which we enjoyed in the living room itself. I can really recommend this hotel to everyone who just wants to get away from the planned tour guided hotel story.
