We started out in a bit of rain, but visibility improved and we had great views of the cormorants and sea lions on the Island of the Birds and on another island. The hike around Bulger Island was chilly, but dressed like an onion as always we were fine. This was a good opportunity to see the vegetation and some of the birds up close. Vanina was a knowledgeable guide who also took care that everyone was happy and comfortable.

There are amazing views if you like the nature. You can see lovely pinguins and a lot of birds of the region. Do not forget tour camera!

The Beagle channel is a great place to explore. 90% of the people take any of the boat tours and do not even realize that there are important differences. The standard tour is a catamaran which takes you along the coast and to some of the islands in the middle of the Beagle channel. All pas by the famous lighthose, the bird islands and the island with the sea lions, but some also go to other more remote places ad you can walk on some of the islands. The full day excursion go also to the Isla Martillo, peguin island close to Estancia Harberton but you cannot really visit the island. There is only one tour operator where you can actually walk along th eisland Isla Martillo to see the penguins and this excursion starts from Harberton. It is also well worth to make the effort and spend the money to do some sea kayaking there or hiring a sailing vessel.

See the sealions and penguins by boat. On the trip back, you can have your passport stamped with a unique 'beagle canal' stamp with a date. The way back was a rough one: some passengers got sick on the boat, others liked the rough sea.

There are dozens of companies offering cruises/trips on the Beagle Channel, but I highly recommend Navegando el Fin del Mundo. The crew of Yate Tango and Yate Che are fantastic. They are knowledgeable and helpful, taking us to the lighthouse, cormorant and lobos islands, and Bridges Island where we were able to disembark and hike up to see some of the fauna and the Yamana middens (deposits of refuse from early native peoples).
