This is a day hike through the Peat Bogs past the small lakes created by beaver dams up to the natural Emerald Lagoon. The color comes from the silt from the rocks being ground by the glacier.

The emerald lake is lovely, but maybe a bit too popular. It's an easy hike from the parking lot. Can get very muddy. Better go in the afternoon to spot beavers on your way back.

Well worth the effort to see - a beautiful lake surrounded by snow capped mountains with superb riverine scenery en route. Dramatic mountains and nice lakeside trails. You could sit for hours watching the lake and its surroundings as the sky changes with varying weather conditions. Easy to get to with good mini bus conections t the nearby lodge which has a cafe.

You can catch a taxi or a bus from Ushuaia (we took a bus and it was 80 pesos each for both ways), destination Valle de Lopos. Its a 3-4 hours of hike both ways, not easy (specially the swamps part) but doeble, and you get to this great little lake trapped between snowy mountains. Its great!

This is a nice hike into the mountains of Tierra del Fuego and pretty easy to do. The trail is quite well marked and it isn´t tiring to get to a really scenic place. The ground can be quite wet at some sections, so be prepared. If you are into more serious hiking, Laguna de los Tempanos is a very good option close to Ushuaia and the hike along the coast, east of Ushuaia till estancia Tunel and further east till Punta Seguna or Remolino are also really great and less wellknown
