There's just something about the food in Ushuaia. We enjoy dining out and have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. The three days we spent in Ushuaia, quite honestly, offered up some of the best food we've had ever. And Kalma is easily at the top of our list.
The service here is impeccable. You're first seated by a waitstaff. Then the chef personally comes up to your table to introduce the highlights and offer advice on wine pairing. For appetizers, we had the king crab because that's what all the reviews online recommended. We weren't disappointed. Then for mains we had the hake, which was fresh and well-cooked, and the king crab ravioli, which features generous chunks of crab meat. Finally for dessert, we opted for the house special, a unique dessert (the chef's own invention) comprising cookie crumbs and ice cream drizzled in extra virgin olive oil.
The personable service, coupled with the amazing food, is a winning combination for Kalma. Sure, prices weren't cheap but for the quality you get, I'll say Kalma is very reasonably priced. Book ahead.
