“A piece of Tierra del Fuegan history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2013

About 1-2 hr from Ushuaia. Through lovely forests, bogs, and pastures is the peaceful setting on protected harbor of an early Estancia by missionary and friend of the Natives. If you've read Uttermost Part of the Earth by E Lucas Bridges, this is a must-see. Farm tour includes plant identification, and location of Native dwellings, as well as sheep shearing, sawmill, carpentry buildings. Mammal museum great education in the animals and their skeletons.

“Absolute great tour to ESTANCIA HARBERTON”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We came off the Princess cruise and organized a tour with PIRA TOUR who has its office conveniently located right at the exit by the harbor. They took us in time in the Bus to the gorgeous 20 hectare estancia, but also put some pit stop into the 1.5 hrs trip, to take fab pictures and get some info over what we see. Great tour guide, English/Spanish spoken and well trained to answer every question!
Once we arrived we took a RIB and took off to the neighboring small island to see the penguins, and there were sooo many, great and fantastic organized small walking tour, again with the guide taking care not one goes too close and the penguins are not disturbed.
Loved the tour and the pix i was able to take home with me! Thank you !

“loved the ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2013

Food was simple but welcome in the cafe. Soups looked good and prices reasonable. Guides excellent who showed us around and I loved the garden in the Harberton house - we live near Devon which is where the original Harberton village is. The garden was a copy of an English country garden and full of lupins, poppies, planted in a typical English style. I am surprised they survive so well as the winters here must be harsh. The museum guide was interesting and information. I particularly enjoyed the small grave yard where members of the family and local people were buried over the years. they must have loved this place.

“Oh, the penguins!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

The only place where you can see penguins from a very close distance! They can come really close to you, if you keep quiet. There was a couple of King Penguins when I visited, was a wonderful experience!
