We had the room at the last floor, and it was a little bit painful to take the stairs (I don't remember how many floor there was, but too much from my point of view) with the luggages and everything. The Wi-Fi was not working in the room. On the other side, the room was big (we had one with 3 beds, whose one double bed and 2 single one, but we paid the price for a matrimonial room) and clean, and rather pretty. The location is good, because it's near the center, but in a quiet place: it was new-year time and we were not disturbed by the noise. The staff was ok, the first lady was nice, but the second one was really not friendly. The breakfast is light, as usual in such kind of establishment in Argentina.
The unbearable thing was the shower: absolutely no pressure, with temperature constantly changing from scalding to icy; really painful... Not so bad for the price, but either not wonderful.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on the top floors

Aside from its' central location and nice enough staff, nothing was really good about this place. 3-4 floors with no elevator - instead you had to carry your luggage up vary narrow wooden staircases; the beds in the room were even narrower and very shaky - I was worried I would be constantly falling throughout the night. Breakfast was a joke. Orange juice, coffee and cocoa were all powders to be mixed in with coffee. The medialunas (their version of croissants) were store-bought, heated up in the microwave most likely and served as food. Bread was there for toasting. No fresh fruit at all. Some cereals that most people didn't tough. Something that looked like yogurt but no one would come near.
I felt they used their central location as an excuse to do everything else poorly. It's a shame, really.

Well located right next to the central street and on the way to the bus station - though at a comfortable distance from the noisy spots. The room we got as a couple had a double bed and 2 single ones, so it could suit a family. The staff was nice to accomodate our requests, like when I asked them to fill a thermos with boiling water for me (no charge). Or, we saw a couple coming for an early check-in and they suggested they join breakfast on the arrival day. Good value for money.
The bad things:
1. we couldn't get online in the room and had to go to the reception / breakfast room to use our netbook - but at least you get a great view from there (wifi is free).
2. wooden structure - you can hear people walking between the floors...
3. absolutely no view from the room window.

The bedspreads which are used as blankets too were disgustingly dirty. I do not know how many men have spermed on them... I asked them to change the blankets but they did not. Bathrooms were ok though...

This is a good value hotel close to the center and the bus terminal. The bedd were hard and the room a bit tired, but it was actually cheaper than the hostels and a much better location.
Wi Fi was good in the lounge weak in the rooms.
Our thanks to the staff and owners who let us wait in the lounge for our bus to Bariloche.

I agree with the other reviewers saying that the rooms are fairly basic for what you pay (we paid $64 for one night at a weekend in January), but i think this says more about how expensive El Calafate is compared to the rest of the country. i would recommend the hotel as a cheaper option with the nicer hotels charging over double this.

we also found the staff very helpful and the girl who is there during the day (Vanessa) spoke perfect English (which is very difficult to find in Argentina...). We were very happy with the staff and got to see all of how helpful Vanessa could be when we woke up on Saturday morning to find out that someone had thrown a stone through our car window (so be a little careful where you park, you might want to park a little higher up on the road going up past the hotel - and also on the main street you will get a ticket if you park there although everybody seem to do it). Vanessa was very helpful sorting everything out with the police and making sure we could get a copy of the police report (which wew needed for insurance) quickly as we were flying back to the UK. For us Vanessa is the main reason i would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in El Calafate.

Good value for the price. It's a very simple and comfortable place to stay at, very close to the main street. The breakfast could be better: we didn't get real milk, but powder milk. Very nice rooms, with a tiny bath, but OK for our needs. we surely recommend the place.
