Masters and his wife, this stunning place still maintains its essence, keeping the history of this family alive, that with great effort and perseverance, made this lonely and inhospitable place a small paradise a home. 5 hours on a boat (3 outbound and 2 inbound) plus 2 hours in a very unconfortable SUV makes this day trip too tiring. The views are amazing but given the changing nature of the weather, if you dont have an amazing weather you risk wasting a large part of the day. Would not recommend.

Thank you for your comment. It is important that passengers know before going to the Estancia about the full itinerary and weather conditions because it could change from time to time, especially in Patagonia. Regards, Estancia Cristina staff.

Overall I enjoyed this trip very much. Lovely views. Great way to see Upsala glacier.
Only drawbacks were:
- Boat was too full so some couples could not sit together...
- Lunch (200 peso) was seriously overpriced! I would say 100 to 140 peso is acceptable for what we were given, but not 200. Drinks however were acceptably priced given the location.
- Command of English of staff not great but doable

Again I find this one of the best ways to spend time in calafate together with Perito Moreno ice trekking.

This is the only trip that we took that didn't have our own guide and driver. It started off badly because we were picked up from our hotel, 50 minutes later than the time that they had phoned the evening before to confirm, by a coach that had seen better days and we were concerned that it wouldn't make it to the boat. When we arrived at the boat we happened to find ourselves at the head of the queue. However, we were held back until everyone else was on the boat, so couldn't get seats! Spoke to the chap in charge and remonstrated about being held back etc. He then sorted out seats and apologised!
All of that said, the trip was really fantastic, going through the icebergs and then in four wheel drives up to the glacier. Quite scary at times, but really a trip of a lifetime.
Food at the restaurant was inedible as the lamb was simply bones with next to no meat on them. However ate the veg., and the bottle of beer managed to sustain. However, the sights and trip to the glacier meant that it was worth going hungry for.
The boat trip is extremely cold, so make sure that you have warm waterproof clothing and a pair of stout shoes to climb up to view the glacier.
Comments about the coach ride back to hotel are same as previous. When we told our own guide and driver about the problems (and how we wished that they we had arranged for them to come with us), they told us that it was the beginning of the season and it would take them some time to sort things out. - That, apparently, is the way it happens in Argentina: so beware of 'organised' trips.
All of that said, it was a marvellous trip that shouldn't be missed. Just let down by sloppy organisation.

I can't recommend this enough. The boat ride alone is worth the trip. You are picked up at your hotel at 7 am for a three hour boat ride passed icebergs and glaciers. Then at estancia Christina you board a 4 x 4 jeep for a view of the Upsala Glacier that takes your breath away. This is followed by lunch and a short walk round the property. Absolutely outstanding.

A great one day tour,
We took the 4*4 to the glacier, very nice views, great guides.
The lunch is nice too, but also to expensive for what you get.
