This is the only trip that we took that didn't have our own guide and driver. It started off badly because we were picked up from our hotel, 50 minutes later than the time that they had phoned the evening before to confirm, by a coach that had seen better days and we were concerned that it wouldn't make it to the boat. When we arrived at the boat we happened to find ourselves at the head of the queue. However, we were held back until everyone else was on the boat, so couldn't get seats! Spoke to the chap in charge and remonstrated about being held back etc. He then sorted out seats and apologised!
All of that said, the trip was really fantastic, going through the icebergs and then in four wheel drives up to the glacier. Quite scary at times, but really a trip of a lifetime.
Food at the restaurant was inedible as the lamb was simply bones with next to no meat on them. However ate the veg., and the bottle of beer managed to sustain. However, the sights and trip to the glacier meant that it was worth going hungry for.
The boat trip is extremely cold, so make sure that you have warm waterproof clothing and a pair of stout shoes to climb up to view the glacier.
Comments about the coach ride back to hotel are same as previous. When we told our own guide and driver about the problems (and how we wished that they we had arranged for them to come with us), they told us that it was the beginning of the season and it would take them some time to sort things out. - That, apparently, is the way it happens in Argentina: so beware of 'organised' trips.
All of that said, it was a marvellous trip that shouldn't be missed. Just let down by sloppy organisation.
