Just 4 blocks to walk around after an excursion to one of the glaciers and before going to dinner.
Souvenir shops, toys, woolen clothing, art and crafts, coffee shops, restaurants, groceries, etc.

Nice to stroll along the street with many shops, restaurants and banks. There are ATM in each bank along the street, but is not allowed to use a mastercard in any of them. We had a pizza and the quality was medium, we had bettewr one. One of my friend bought few souvenirs. The bus station is just at the end of the street. You can find nice ice-cream. You can try also "L'agnello al palo" in one or two restaurants as you can see from their windows.

Some areas along this street, (the main one in El Calafate), reminded us of the mountain town of Banff, Alberta. You can get pretty much anything you need here including many brand name hiking and outdoor clothing outfits, but not cheap! Rather touristy but had a good selection of stores and restaurants, various tour booking agencies and even a big casino advertising nightly shows. La Anonima had shops with grass roofs, was cute and quaint with reasonable prices for souvenirs.

Despite being only a few blocks long (10 I'd say), we found everything on Libertador Avenue, from supermarkets and clothing shops to arts and crafts markets. Mind the dogs, there many wondering around, though I think they're friendly and very used to being around people.

this is the main drag of the town. we booked our tours from the agencies here for todo glaciares and chalten bus tickets. we shopped at La Anonima and got our staples at reasonable prices. the taxi stand is just opposite La Anonima. the shop facades are quite picturesque in cypress wood and the souvenirs are reasonably priced. there are costly art/craft pieces from semi precious gems as well and we did a happy bit of window shopping here. dogs follow people persistently... one crossed the road on spotting us and almost clambered into our cab...
