An older hotel with small rooms, 10 minutes walk to the main shopping street. Free WiFi in the rooms. Friendly staff, nothing more to say, it is okay, but I would not stay there again.

The Michelangelo has a pleasant "faux estancia" exterior and is a stone's throw from El Calafate's main street in a good, but quiet location. Parking outside the hotel isn't a problem and despite its central location it was fairly quiet. The receptionist was fairly helpful and seemed to have a reasonable command of English. The rooms are all on the ground floor in this fairly small hotel, all kept clean and up to a standard you'd expect for the price. Free internet via a computer in the corridor, although there was always a queue for this. A nice-looking restaurant and bar area, but we ate in the centre. Generally no complaints and perfectly good for the price.

In El Calafate, try the Casimiro Bigua, Avenida Libertador 903 for an upmarket parrilla/asador meat grill restaurant, prices were very high for Argentina, but the food is great. Borges & Alvarez is a good bar on the same street.

We would not hesitate to stay again at this property. It is very well-maintained, and very conveniently located yet quiet. The breakfast options were fully adequate, but not outstanding.

The hotel has some years over it, one of the first ones in El Calafate, but the rooms are clean, confortable and big, however you could even hear the conversations in the next room as walls are paper thin. The service is excellent and the breakfast is very good for a continental option. The restaurant was closed for remodeling but heard that is among the best in town. It is walking distance from the main streets so if you do not have a car, is a very good option to get around. Ask for Rossana! she was the best ...

Clean and pleasant, small idiosyncratic Toblerone design hotel just 2 blocks from the main Liberador street, in an admittedly small city. Our only complaint would be that during our stay we found it dreadfully overheated and as our room was on the ground (only?) floor facing the street, traffic and pedestrian noise was obtrusive if the window was opened. And it would appear that under Argentinian traffic law exhaust mufflers are optional.
But to be fair the weather was unusually hot even for early summer, I'm sure winter visitors will welcome the warmth, which was also evidenced in the hotel staff who were charming for the most part.
We didn't dine though the guest book showed several comments from those who did and wrote positively. Breakfast was average, no eggs offered.
Checkout was a rather early 10am.
