“avery nice and cosy place”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

we spent 3 nights in the hoel in the beggining of November. The hotel and rooms are very nice cosy and cleen. As the hotel name says Patagonia can have changing weather with strong winds and showers. Coming to the cosy hotel room, lounge with the books and games and leaving room is a great relife. Breakfst is very good and the hotel offers a uniqe one- express breakfast- if you need to start early (and I mean very early- like 4 or 5 am ) you can notify the front desk the night before and they will serve you in the leaving room coffeee, juice and some things froom the bakery.
I recommend the hotel gift shop. Though I never shop in these shops- this one has avery nice collection of knitted stuff in a special room and the packed shop has a verity of small nice gifts in reasonable prices-+ a nice lady in charge.
The hotel is within walking distance form the main steet and the birds lagoon where you can wahtch the native species. It is highly recomended to walk along the main steert to the ovelooking hill and watch the sunset on the mountains in front- it is facinating.
Do not miss the Calafate ice cream- especially the goat milk one !!!
We enoyed our stay and highly recommand the place
Smadar

Room Tip: we had a standrs room facin the garden that was very good.

Hotel met our needs before and after our hike in Torres del Paine. They safely stored our luggage between stays. Their food was ok. We found their service to be great. Rooms and bathroom were better than expected. Location was only two blocks from main Street. Their wifi was strong in lobby and it needs to be stronger in rooms. This and their below par lunch boxes prevents me from giving five stars.

I stayed twice, each stay was for three nights. In both cases room provided was clean and comfortable (good night sleep is the success criteria). Staff was always helpful and professional.
Breakfast has many options, even that the offering is the same everyday. Dinner menu is short but has good options.

Hotel has a small spa, and a massage after a long day outdoors is heaven, but be sure to make an appointment, since the hours for massages are only between 5:00 and 10:00pm.

Internet overall is useful, however if a busload of people arrives and all deprived interned users log on at the same time it can get very slooooooooow.

Location is just right, just to blocks from the main street but in a quiet area.

Good location. Quaint little hotel. I would have loved to have been able to try the spa area but they closed it a 10:00 pm. Really wished they allowed it to be open later.

The location is within an easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Other people in my group loved their rooms, me not so much. Second floor facing the side street with a window just above the dumpster. Garbage truck shows up at 12:30 am on the dot.
Beds were not very comfortable.

This is my second stay at this hotel since I stayed here 3 or 4 years ago. The manager (I assume the guy in the suit running around was the manager) could be seen checking on every aspect of the hotel and pitching in as needed. I saw him helping clean and set tables, checking the breakfast buffet, rolling out suitcases, etc. His staff followed his lead and gave excellent service all while dressed in colorful local attire with always a smile. We had a large but standard room facing the back of the hotel where there is a green area to sit and space for some parking which was typically empty. The room was very quiet but we were on the end. Wifi was great even in our location. The room was very spacious. I do have to say the rooms are starting to look "dated" and could use a makeover soon to bring them back to top form. Breakfast was very good with a good choice in a large, bright corner room with lots of windows (sometimes cool near them in the morning with it almost freezing outside). There was always plenty of room at breakfast, not very crowded even though I believe the hotel was probably near or fully booked at the time. The location is great being just a couple of block from the main street of town and right in the middle. Another great stay.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the back and on the end which got us probably a larger room.

This is a nice hotel only two blocks form the main street in downtown Calafate. The rooms are nice. The bathroom in our room was small and awkwardly laid out. There is bathtub and bidet. The hotel has a spa with a Jacuzzi. My wife got a massage in the spa which was reasonable. The lobby its nice with a nice gift shop, a very nice bar, a game room with ping pong and a pool table. The breakfast buffet is nice and has lots of variety. There is a safe in the room. Our room was quite hot so we had to leave the Windows open. The tv in the room was pretty old, box type, but we were not here to watch tv. Overall it was above average.

Kosten Alike is a very good choice for enjoying the Glaciers National park close from El Calafate. Its location at the center of the small town gives the opportunity to discover the excellent restaurants around without staying in the boring dining room of the hotel.
PROs ; Nice large and clean rooms, kind reception, large public areas, good qulaity price balance, location
CONs : dining room could be improved as well as the breakfast and the dinner menu.
