“ate at Quido Christmas Eve and every other night of our 5 day stay”
Reviewed January 16, 2013

We ate here once and couldn't imagine having any better food anywhere else, and the view couldn't be beat. Their young cook is incredibly talented (I am a vegetarian), my traveling companion not, and we both thought all our meals exceptionally well prepared. Fernanda is the server and she is very sweet, and talented, and is also very knowledgeable about the wines.

She and her husband Marcos who manages the Solares del Sur hotel and Martin who is the receptionist all are donating their time and profits to setting up a no-kill animal shelter because the discarded, homeless dog issue is tremendous in El Calafate. These are excellent people, running an excellent restuarant and hotel and their good works for this shelter, called TAMA is another reason to support the restaurant

“Excellent dinner”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

We had dinner here upon reading tripadvisor recommendations. Great food, friendly family service, the hotel itself also looks very nice. Definitely worth coming over by taxi instead of eating again at the more mass-market, a bit mediocre mainstreet restaurants.

“Quaint little restaurant with a great view of Lago Argentino”
Reviewed December 1, 2012 via mobile

This is the restaurant at the Solares del Sur hotel where my husband and I stayed in El Calafate. Since the hotel is a little ways from town we decided to go here on our first night in town. The room itself is very nice with a great cozy atmosphere and a great, scenic view of Lago Argentino. My husband had the lamb ravioli and I had the bife de chorizo. I can only say that the food matches the view. Everything was outstanding. And we liked it so much that we had room service from here the next night as well. The onion soup and provoleta are also must-tries. Highly recommended.

“So good, we ate there on back-to-back days!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

My wife and I were recently (late-October '12) were staying at Los Ponchos. After a day of hiking, we didn't want to go into town and decided to try Quidu, which is about a two block walk from the hotel.

The restaurant was excellent. From the dining room (which is floor to ceiling windows on one side to give you a great view of the mountains), to the service (extremely friendly), to the food (so good), we were very pleased with every aspect.

We enjoyed our experience so much, we returned the following evening and ate there again with completely different dishes. It did not disappoint.

Dinner cost us about $75 total, which included two appetizers, two entrees, a bottle of good wine, and a dessert.

“Lovely meal at Quidu”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

Loved the place and the food. It is not located in the center of the town but very close to it. Some of the best vistas of the lake and we definitely had our best meal of the trip here.
The service was also very good as was the attention to detail.
