What a great place to eat. The food was the best we have had in El Calafate by far. The salad was the freshest and best salad we have eaten in six months in Argentina. The Lasagna was outstanding and big enough for two adults - easily. The chicken pot pie was fantastic too. It had a sweet flavor and we loved that. The bread was excellent as well.

The atmosphere was very warm and cheery. The staff were very relaxed and happy.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great value. Go for it.

We are going back tomorrow night.

Just reviewing by the standards of El Calafate restaurants, this is not really good. The menu is extremely limited with stews the feature. During our stay with temperatures at the high and unusual 70s, lamb pot pie was not enjoyable. Vegetarian options were cold weather foods as well. Portions are large, price is small so maybe this trumps the rest.

Really good local food, huge portions. We had to wait for 20 mins for a table, if you go later queues can get bigger - it's a pretty small and cosy place. As they were busy they made some mistakes on the bill, we had extra stuff on our bill which was missing from the next table's bill and I heard other people making similar comments - nothing malicious, just stressed admin!

Did I say that the food was great? It is.

Pura Vida was so awesome. It is basically next door to Hotel Sierra Nevada, and we walked in hoping we wouldn't have to wait long. They didn't take names down but kept track of who came in when. We had to wait 20 minutes to get seated, but we were entertained with beer at the bar on the bottom floor (dining room is on the top floor). It's so bohemian and colorful inside and the food coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked divine. They had a live musician that night so it was extra nice.

The hare dish was unavailable that night, but we absolutely cannot complain about our own dishes - large, hearty, utterly fulfilling. A huge hunk of bread accompanied it all.

Four of us just did a whirlwind tour of Argentina. Four cities in two weeks. As you can imagine, we ate at lots of restaurants. When I think of my top meals, this one makes the list. Pura vida had some really wonderful, classic Argentinian foods. This is not a steak place - not a parilla. It is the homey-type of cooking that I didn't see too many other places. We started with Lamb Empanadas - delicious! Some other things to consider - the stuffed calabaza. Just make sure you are really hungry! Two can easily eat from it. I had the Argentinian version of shepard's pie and it was great. If you want a break from steaks and are craving home-style food, check it out. The service is great too - we had to wait a long time to get a table and by the time we sat, I feel like many of the staff knew we had been waiting and they were very kind and friendly to us. They also called a cab for us - this one place is a bit further out of town and near a good grocery store so you can take care of multiple things at once!
