Los Juncos - Lake House
Reviewed April 21, 2012

We spent 3 nights at Los Juncos and were sorry we couldn't stay longer. It is a charming and comfortable place and Gaby and his mother were wonderful hosts. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our bed and enjoyed the sun rise everyday. We had dinner there all three nights because it was the best food we had in Argentina! Gaby and his mom are great cooks and the dining room, lit with candles, is so comfortable and welcoming. I had my birthday there and Gaby's mom made a delicious cake that was one of the best I have had-not overly sweet like many of the cakes we had in Argentina but delicate and light. Breakfast was plentiful and also included some delicious homemade cakes by Gaby's mom.

Room Tip: We slept in Aire-beautiful view of the lake and spacious room with sitting area. Small bathroom but...

The views from the rooms are stunning. I was able to see a scenic view of the lake in the mirror while brushing my teeth! The owners have done a great job decorating and appointing this B&B. We are a same sex couple and were made to feel welcome. All the details were accounted for to make the stay memorable. Breakfast was simple, but tasty and unrushed. We arranged to have dinner at Los Juncos (owner is a chef) to celebrate my husband's birthday and were not disappointed. We were given three choices for appetizer, main course and desert. All of it was very good. The cost was similar to what you would pay in a local restaurant, perhaps a little less. The quality was superb and the ambiance romantic. The only thing I didn't like about this B&B was that the old wooden floors in the bedroom were quite squeaky. I look forward to returning with family.

A fabulous place to stay which is away from the madding crowds of Bariloche. It is a perfect respite with fantastic hosts and food. There are so many lovely little touches which make the place feel very special and a home from home. Anywhere with an honesty bar says a lot about the feel of a place in my book. The views from the front of the house are just amazing and one of my highlights of my five months in Argentina was watching the sunrise across the lake from my very comfortable bed.

I would recommend Los Juncos to anyone. Perfect for a romantic break or a girlie trip around the beautiful Patagonian lakes. Also, hire a car you'll need one even if you stay in Bariloche.

Room Tip: Aire was a lovely room, ask for one which overlooks the lake.

Los Juncos alone is worth a trip to Argentina. Located a few miles outside of Bariloche the restored 5 bedroom cottage gives its guests respite from the touristy city yet all the beauty the Lake District affords viewed from your bedroom picture windows. Owners Flavia and Gaby (sister and brother) are impeccable hosts and chef Gaby's menu offered the best food we had during our travels in Argentina. It was so delicious we dined all four nights at Los Juncos. The decor is disigner 'shabby chic', cozy and comfortable with a feel of the Old World. Crystal and silver place settings at every meal with rough wood finishes on ceiling and floor that make guests in their hiking duds feel at home. The owners are attentive and gracious, the food divine and guest suites are uniquely decorated with lux linens and fresh flowers. Don't miss an opportunity to plant your bags at Los Juncos for one night or one month.

Room Tip: The "Air" room where we stayed has a gorgeous unobstructed view of the Lake but the bathro...

We were not really sure what to expect when we walked through the door but we have very much enjoyed out stay and would recommend staying here. The host, Gaby, was instructive, attentive and helpful about the local area and his cooking, with his mum, was the best we have had in Argentina. So much so we spent 2 of our 3 nights dining at Los Juncos! Overall a wonderful experience on our honeymoon!

I stayed at this Guesthouse in February of 2010 with a small group of friends - I am just sorry I didn't get to review my experience until now. I recommend this guesthouse for several reasons. First, for its wonderful location just outside of town. Bariloche is famous for it's beautiful surroundings and aside from one or two points of interest, not for the town itself. For a small city there is a lot of hustle and bustle going on and it is hardly peaceful. Second, the staff is wonderful. Flavia, the hostess, is attentive and fun. She helped us with suggestions on sights to see as well as with the menu of the day. She laid out the menu and seating times for the day with a little sit down before our excursions. It was great to come back to the house and have a fantastic dinner and to talk about the things we experienced over a great glass of wine and or spirit. And lastly, the rooms - rustic, cozy and quiet - everything u need for a good nights rest. If you are not looking to be pampered (and fleeced) with room service and prefer intimate charm, this is the place to stay!

Room Tip: 2 of my friends stayed in 'Soul.' It is perhaps more like a suite than the other rooms but I...

We stayed here twice - once for two nights and once for one night. The "Welcome Home!" greeting by Flavia , the owner, when we returned for the second stay was lovely. Both rooms were beatifully decorated - each with a different theme - each had lots of lovely little touches. Breakfast was plentiful and Elisabet who served it was very friendly and helpful even though we didn't speak Spanish. The location is beautiful and whilst it is a little out of the main town there are lots of place to eat nearby and it is also possible to have dinner in the hotel (although we didn't).
