Aldebaran Hotel & Spa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 27, 2014

We recently spent four nights at the Aldebaran Hotel and Spa and can't recommend it highly enough! Our room and balcony, spacious and super-comfortable, had a spectacular view over the lake and mountains. All six of us in our group found the cuisine to be exceptional - innovative, fresh, delicious! My husband is gluten-sensitive and I don't eat dairy - no problem for the remarkable chef who tailored menu items to our needs with a smile. Even whipped up gluten-pfree bread for us! Laundry was done well in one day. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and efficient. It's about 25 minutes from town, but so worth it!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a balcony, not a patio, if you want to have a better lake and mountain view.

We had the pleasure of spending 4 nights at the Aldebaran Hotel and Spa while visiting Bariloche, Argentina. The facility is warm and inviting, the staff were superb, and the food was first rate. I am a vegetarian and was accommodated with the most incredible cuisine. Our room was so lovely with gorgeous mountain views and we had no problem at all communicating because the gracious staff spoke excellent English. I cannot say enough good things at this establishment. It was the perfect location for our hiking adventure in one of the most beautiful settings in the Bariloche area.

Room Tip: Our room was on a lower level, so we had mountain views, but not lake views. If you want a lake and...

We really enjoyed our stay here a few weeks back. The accommodations are really quite nice. It is out of the way for sure, but that was fine by us as we weren't looking to party down in Bariloche. The two biggest strengths by far were the restaurant and the primary staff people. They were all gems in there own way. All of them will go far out of their way to help you with trip planning or anything else within reason. Big hugs to Sophia and her upcoming baby!

It is located 20 KM from Bariloche but don´t let that put you off. The discreet location along an unmade road only adds to the charm. In any event it is only a 25 min drive to town. The staff are welcoming, helpful and attentive. Alex in particular gave us great tips on where to go.

Our large room was well furnished and had a great lakeside view. It is so quiet you are guaranteed a good night´s sleep. The restaurant has a good selection and we enjoyed a very pleasant meal on our first night. Breakfast was enjoyable.

The hotel has a spa which unfortunately we had no time to visit. There is WIFI throughout.

Our only regret - we didn´t stay longer.

This ten room gem is a solid, well run operation on a wooded hillside overlooking the lake. Rooms are large, well maintained and nicely furnished in a understated theme. Staff is world class, attentive and helpful. Twenty-four cover restaurant integral to the place, decent modern cuisine, if not memorable. Excellent massage can be booked through the front desk (now 280 pesos, not the 240 pesos listed in the in-room information, but a full hour and worth it.) Hotel location is problematic. It's very quiet and peaceful out on the San Pedro peninsula, but claustrophobic if you don't have a car. It's 160 pesos and 30 minutes into town.

If you want to splash out on just one hotel then find a little extra for a stay at this one. Stunning views of the mountains and lake from the hotel. Large, comfortable rooms, with balconies. Helpful staff who spoke English and were able to advise us on places to visit nearby. Excellent evening meals and a good cellar. A Relaxing spa , with small pool and jacuzzi. What more can you wish for a hotel.

We just returned from 19 days in Argentina through 6 different cities and Aldebaran was absolutely our favorite hotel. The hotel is so lovely and intimate, it is like being at a private villa. Rooms were gorgeous, we had the most stunning view. The staff were absolutely wonderful from the moment we arrived. Jose was so personable and we loved Sophia as well. They went out of their way to accomodate us and arrange activities or reservations on our behalf and even tecahing us how to drink mate! The restauarant needs more visitors because the food was sublime, we ate there twice and the trout was one of the best meals I had in the whole country. Definitely go here to get away from it all and feel pampered and relaxed.

Room Tip: This hotel is about 30 minutes form the centre of Bariloche, suited us just fine as we had a rental...
