If you have a car, you will enjoy this trip a lot more than I did, as you'll be able to stop wherever you want and for how long you want. But in this case, watch out for the scheduled times of the road, as they are one-way roads at different times! The thundering sounds of the mountais are trully impressive, if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time; you may even see the huge blocks of ice falling. The "Ventisquero Negro" (Black Glacier) is amazing, and I would have stayed there a lot longer than what was allowed in the excursion I was in... but if an excursion is all you can have, it is worthwhile anyway.

I loved the Black Glacier and particularly Los Diablos falls (I counted 8 falls running when I was there and we were extremely lucky with weather, I imagine more falls would be visible if you go ther on a rainy day. Suggest you bring your own food for lunch. If you like glaciated mountains, then take the trip to Rio Negro´s highest peak

My husband and i traveled up the long, windy, bumpy and dirty road to Cerro Tronador. The road is one way(thank heavens) going in at certain times and one way going out at certain times. It takes about two hours to drive on this road to come to the Glacier. Once there you can go for a small hike until you get to the glacier. It really is magnificent to see the glacier and the waterfalls. It was a beautiful day for a picnic up there and not very crowded. There is a restaurant there but we did not even venture in it.

Tronador is the highest peak in this area, and it is one of the best tours you can take, anywhere in the world. Coupled with a visit to "Cascada de los Alerces" it is a one day experience. You will see lakes, mountains, a beautiful valley at the foot of this majestic peak with plenty of green and horses grazing on the lush green grass very close to the restaurant. It is a remote place, barely touched by people. Go take a look, and you will come back renewed. The "Ventisquero negro" (black glacier ) is another attraction right by the "Pampa Linda" valley (where you will stop for a rest and lunch). A glacier that because of collecting rocks from around, gets so dark in color that it seems to be made of black ice. Marvelous! A must for Bariloche visitors! Keep in mind this tour is only available during the warm months, it cannot be visited in late fall and winter.

This place is just AWESOME, the black glaciar is nice but the refuge it`s my favorite place in Patagonia. "Refugio Otto Meiling" is a mountain shelter located 2000 mts sorrounded by many glaciars, the view from there is incredible and make you feel you are live!
