“Combines natural beauty with modern day comforts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2010

Design Suites is an excellent hotel. Good location. Nice view from the room, stayed at the Club House. The room is done with taste and combines the view of the mountains and the lake with modern comforts such as Jacuzzi, Massage chair.
Breakfast is good with fresh baked bread and home cheese.
The hotel is like 2 to 2.5 km from city centre and taxis can be called to pick-up. One way is like 15 Pesos. The hotel also drops people twice a day to the centre.
Wi-fi is included to check occlusional e-mails one would like to or surf. Two computers are provided for.
The swimming pool is indoor and kept at 29 degc. One portion of the pool is outside and can be accessed , so one can enjoy both the indoor and outdoor effect.
All in all a great hotel. I also think that when you Ski at Cerro Cathedral, staying at Design Suites gets you 10% discount.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights recently while on a snowboarding/skiing trip with our 2 teenagers. I was initially skeptical of this place. First off, it's a good 2 km outside of the main town, so you can either walk or take a short, inexpensive taxi, but a couple of nights, the taxi took 20 minutes! Our rooms were a hike up a small hill and that initially bothered me, but it was compensated by the beautiful lake and mountain views we had from our room and turned out not to be a big deal. The rooms were just OK. Fairly non-descript, and really nothing special. Service was also decent, but impersonal.
We used their shuttle service each morning to get us to Cerro Catedral where we went snowboarding, and that was useful, but there was only a return shuttle at 6 pm, which was too late so we had to take a taxi for 60 Pesos ($15), which was no big deal.
The breakfast buffet was decent. Nice lake views from the restaurant in the morning, to be sure. In the end, I was happy with the choice, but might try another place if returning.

Hotel design is not good. You will need to walk from your room outside to the main building for meals, pool and gym (rain, snow or sun). Which after a few days, gets old. The hotel has a good location near town, but don't blink or you'll miss the entrance from the road, then you have to travel up a steep and winding hill (not on brochure). we rented a "two-room" suite. it's just really two totally separate hotel rooms, that are blocked off by another door, they could not figure out the key system for that, so we had to keep getting out keys redone at the front desk on a daily basis, plus the hall light sensor was on the blink the whole time , so the hall light kept flashing off and on. It was pretty much a mess. They had a "kids club", but it also doubled as the employee lounge and extra luggage room.

the good points, good breakfast buffet, good location and nice pool (once you hike down from your room).

A great choice for Bariloche. It's about 2kms out of town but the views are fabulous and the accommodation very contemporary, clean and superb value for money. The restaurant is expensive for dinner and we failed to understand why you would want to have air fresheners blowing out every 5 minutes over your food, but service is great and if you cannot be bothered trekking into Bariloche, you'll have a good evening. Previous reviews about the service and staff were not supported during our stay - they were great.

I chose this hotel in the internet and it didn´t let me down in comfort or appearence, but at the breakfast time, I felt in war. Only one waitress to take care of tables and replacement of food and drinks. Not enough to keep evreything availabe to the guests. The Hotel wasn´t full, and not even one day of the 4 I stayed we could have a nice breakfast.
Ohn the other hand, the room was incredible, with great heating, including the floor of the bathroom.Very spacious and comfortable. The view was really beautiful.
Although the room was fantastic, I woudn´t stay there again.

My fiance loves to stay at off the radar places and this is definitely one of the best finds. We have traveled to a lot of different places (Copenhagen, Banff, Berlin, Sydney) and this hotel alone made me want to go back to Argentina! It is a beautiful modern design with a spa in the front of the room that over looks the mountains. I'm not sure if i really need to say any more? The included breakfast was nice, nothing special to note, but still tasty. It's a bit out of the city, but we could either easily get there by cab or one night we walked. We are big hikers/runners, so to us it wasn't too far, but there isn't really a side walk to walk on, so be aware. It very much has the feel of a cozy apartment. Absolutely loved it.

Also to note, they have a person in the main lobby that can help set up daily excursions. We found them very helpful and reliable for accurate information.

We just stayed at the Design Suites in Bariloche for two nights. The guest rooms were really nice but there is absolutely no noise reduction. We had neighbors on either side who turned on their heating and boiled our room. We opened the window and could not sleep because of the noise in the whole area. The TVs were really old and the sound was awful - reverberating from neighbor guest rooms. The rest of the hotel was nice. We had the most fantastic waitress - Paola. She really knew how to take care of her clients. Also, the staff was efficient in dealing with our requests especially the bell boy. It is a pitty that the builders did not think of noise insulation. It really killed our trip as we did not sleep for two nights. Will never stay there again nor will I recommend it. We even asked 3 times for a quiet room - when we reserved it, when we confirmed it and when we arrived. We were moved on our second night to a new room, still the same problem with the noise. We could hear our neighbors perfectly well. Definitely not a 4 star hotel as they claim - maybe a 3 star.
