We had 2 lunches at Alto and both were superb and overwhelming. There is a great family atmosphere at the restaurant that makes you want to just sit back and enjoy. I highly recommend the lomo. At 90 pesos ($12 USD) its great value and enough for 2 with a starter (provolone / chorizo). The owner was good enough to change USD for us at 7.5 pesos which was also handy. Place is a bit hard to find so ask at the tourist info place if you can't find it.

We’ve eaten steak in some of the most highly acclaimed restaurants in countries known for their beef – US, Australia, Japan, and here in Argentina. The bife de chorizo in this little place in Bariloche tops them all in terms of flavor, texture, and technique. Anything more we say about the beef would be repeating all the raves they’ve already received. We wanted to know more about their sources, and were only told it was Pampas beef - which

Their morcilla (blood sausage) and chorizo sausage should not be missed either. One of us had never been a great fan of morcilla, but after having had it here, we have added it to our ‘must-have’ parilla meals in the mere hope of enjoying it again as we did here.

They don’t have a large wine list, but they do try to select wines that will pair will with the food. Service was very friendly, and never condescending, even to newbies to the world of beef and wine. Portions were large, even by US standards.

They could charge more just for the quality that you get, but prices are also extremely reasonable. Clearly they’re running this place out of passion.

Make sure you make a reservation. There’s seating for only about 30 people and they were full when were there both at the beginning of the week and during the weekend.

we were booked for 8 pm - early for argentina standards.
there was no pork, and beef ribs were also unavailable.
we settled for beef lomo - filet which was great however the second dish, veal was chewy and did not impress us as they used a bad cut.
the garnish of pureed potatoes and complete salad mix was average in taste.
finally be aware that although this is a popular place with tourists they would only take visa or cash, no amex no mastercard and we found this inconveniencing.
i have had a better experience for less money at other parillas around bariloche.

I am not sure what I can say here that hasn't already been said. Alto el Fuego cooked up the best steak that I have ever eaten in my life. The service was great and atmosphere was comfortable. The large steak and bottle of wine that I had ran under $30 USD. I will for surely be back if I ever return to Bariloche.

They only have room for 30 guests or so, so come early or book a table. Waiters are attentive and the food is great. Get the provoleta, a big lovely plate of hot cheese with oregano. We had the lomo also which was great. We went here 2 nights and wish we had spent more days in Bariloche so that we could go here again!
