“Not really worth it in the fall”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013 via mobile

We went up here in May, during the fall. Everything was shut down. The summer crowds were gone and the ski crowds hasn't arrived yet. Nothing much to see since everything was closed. Unless you are here during the summer or winter, don't bother.

“Beatiful 360 view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

The ride in the gondola was very cold in February, but the view once you arive is breathtaking. The small restaurant has a great chococognac.

“Breath-taking hike to the top!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2013

We stopped by Cerro Catedral after hiking up to Cerro Campanario and do a bit of walking off the Ciruito Chico. What a perfect end to an active day. After taking the gondola up the mountain the hike to the top is only about 30 minutes. Do wear hiking shoes, just because of the rocks and dust, but the trail is wide and not super steep. The payoff is huge and the views are truly spectacular! For the bolder, you can also hike to Refugio Frey from here if you choose.

“Spectacular summertime views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2013

A two-step ride to the top (or hike it) and the views will knock your socks off. We took a city bus for about AR$20, a popular bus, and it is well worth the effort to visit.

“Visited in Summer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2013

I was interested in seeing the layout of the largest ski resort in South America. Nice to see but after seeing the views from Cerro Campanario (which is much closer and a much shorter ski lift ride), I'm not sure it's worth the effort if you're at Cerro Catedral in the summer for the views. To get to the top, you have to take 2 different ski lifts and it's very windy and the views, while incredible, are farther reaching and less immediately gratifying somehow than with what I saw from Cerro Campanario. However, if you're a big mountain biker and/or hiker, I think you'd really enjoy this as a full day excursion!
