“WORTH EVERY CENT! VERY COZY AND CHARMING HOTEL”
Reviewed July 8, 2008

After a thorough internet review of the 4 and 5 stars hotels in Bariloche I decided to book the La Cascada. Bulls' eye!
I was there to celebrate my wife's birthday along with our 4-year old daughter. That was our first time in Bariloche. We booked room 109 (The Imperial Suite, where the King of Spain Juan Carlos stayed, 10 years ago, but at USD 225 including breakfast and taxes is very affordable to us mere mortals...).with two queen size beds. The rooom was very spacious, the bathroom big, with two access doors, one from the corridor and one from the bedroom, bath tube with shower and a separate shower room.

The room has a wall to wall window overlooking the garden and the lake with a view that is simply fantastic. The experience of having breakfast looking at the scenery is stupend. The young staff, specially Raúl at the front desk and the girls at the breakfast, was very pleasant and cooperative. The swimming pool and the sauna are very good and relaxing after a day in the snow. I highly recommend the La Cascada.

The hotel is beautyfull. Located in the lake shore in the midle of a park. Pool and Sauna are very nice. Staff also very nice. But the hotel is old. The room I've stayed in seems to be from the 60's, but clean. Breakfast is ok but the restaurant is terrible (froozen food like) The food was so terrible that the dinner was not charged (this poit I have to give to the hotel). The hotel is not 5 stars like it claim to be, At most 3.

20 of us stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during a tour of Argentina over the Easter Holidays. After one wet day in Buenos Aires we arrived at La Cascada to a little piece of heaven in beautiful sunshine and clear dark blue skies. On arrival we were offered a Vodka and Cassis drink and sat to admire a fantastic view of the lake. The staff at the hotel were fantastic throughout our stay; from the reception desk staff, the bar staff and the waitresses, they were always checking if there was anything they could do to help us.

All our rooms over looked the lake with large bay windows. Each night the bed was turned down with chocolates left by the bed. Breakfast offered everything from cooked egg and bacon, to fruit, cheeses, meets, yogurts etc There was something for everyone.

We had a tour of the Nahuel Huapi lake to Villa La Angostura for a half day one day and took the Circuito Chico excursion for a half day the next day. During this tour we took a chair lift to view the Cerro Campanario, an absolute must. You know when people say 'there is a fantastic view at the top?' well I can't put into words what you can see, just amazing!! We did have a beautiful day though.

To conclude a beautiful, peaceful hotel that I would highly recommend. We just wished it was nearer to home because we would definately visit again.

We stayed in this Hotel in early January in a Double Superior room. We had a rental car which we collected from the Airport and drove directly to La Cascada. It is easy to find the Avenida Bustillo which is the main road running along the Lago from Bariloche to the Llao Llao Peninsula and La Cascada is 6km along it. On driving into the Hotel 1st impressions are not good as you are looking at an ugly gravel Carpark at the rear of the Hotel. However once inside it was apparent that it was a nice older style hotel. Our room was on the ground floor which is the same level as reception, a reading lounge and the restaurant. The room was a large room with a sort of dormer window with 2 chairs and a small table where you could sit and look out at the beautiful view of the Lago Nahuel Huapi. The windows opened right up which was nice. The furnishings in the room are of a gracious older style but are in excellent condition. One of the previous reviews suggested the rooms were like motel rooms but our room certainly was not - maybe the standard rooms are. The bathroom whilst not large was big enough with Shower over bath, wide vanity, toilet & bidet. There is a large wardrobe and plenty of storage space, something that can be lacking in newer properties. There are more rooms on the upper floor and you could go downstairs to a huge games room with billiard table, table tennis and adjacent gymnasium. Even though I didn't use the gym I was surprised by the amount of equipment in there, both cardio and body building. At the other end of the lower floor is a big indoor swimming pool which is very attractive and has direct access to the outside area out onto the sloping lawns that lead down to their beach on the Lakeside. There is a sauna alongside the pool. We used the Restaurant for breakfast and 1 lunch. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of tasty choices and excellent coffee, the lunch was also good. There are so many dining choices nearby if you have a rental car we were spoilt with choice so didn't dine in the hotel in the evening - one reason to might be the view which surpasses any other view we saw in Bariloche. The service both in the Restaurant and at reception was exemplary. This is one hotel where nothing is too much trouble. A very pleasant young male receptionist, Augustin would inquire how we were each time we passed by reception and assisted us with several things including re-confirming flights for us and information about the area. This may not sound like much but the genuine and courteous way in which we were treated was more like staying in someone's house than in a hotel. We had originally booked into the Llao Llao hotel and decided against it for 2 reasons 1 that it was ridiculously expensive and 2 that it was too far from Bariloche. We were pleased with our choice and would happily stay at La Cascada again, being a very critical individual there are not too many properties I would say this about!! All in all if you stay here you will not be disappointed.

  • Liked — The quality of the accommodation and the excellent service throughout the Hotel
  • Disliked — That I was too Lazy to use the well equipped gym!!

Let me start out by staying that we liked this resort/hotel and really have nothing negative to say -- the place is clean the rooms are nice and the staff is excellent...for $90/nt the price is not bad as it is listed as a 5 star hotel.....

...but to be honest if you plan on staying in Bariloche there are some other great alternatives. There are many cabanas (essentially vacation condos) that are cheaper, larger, and much nicer in the same location on Ave Bustillo between km 3-4 or so and km 24. We stayed as well at the Cabanas Gserd on km 4 and this place was incredible.... about 600-800 sq ft condo w/ lake view, kitchen, and nice landscaping. The best part was that it only cost about $40/nt. There are probably about 20 or 30 similar complexes at about the same price....the problem is that many do not advertise on the net so you don't know about them until you get there.

Slightly away from the bustle of Bariloche, La Cascada is a treat. Beautiful grounds, on the shore of Lago Nahuel Huapi. Very spacious common areas with a fireplace. Our room was pretty basic 'nice-motel'--nothing special except for the view out the window to the lake. Still, we enjoyed our (1 night) stay, and we'd go back. The small indoor swimming pool is also a plus!

We've just arrived from Bariloche, where we stayed for a week at Hotel La Cascada. It's a beautiful hotel, in front of Nahuel Huapi lake, with a superb view, and splendid, although not luxurious accommodations. The rooms are very comfortable, as are the bathrooms, with great water pressure. Service is outstanding, provided by mostly a feminine staff. The food at the hotel's restaurant is very, very good, and very cheap. I highly recommend the hotel for those who enjoy a very attentive service, beautiful surroundings, coziness and comfort at very reasonable rates.
