While the property is located in a remote area of Bariloche, about 60 minutes from the airport and 30 min, passed both the city center and any civilization, the views are absolutely beautiful and it is the most luxurious resort in the area. We found most of the staff to be helpful, the tour and travel desk to be exceptional and the concierge team to be way below par and completely inadequate (information we shared with hotel management...)

Very much a 'Swiss' mountain setting with spectacular scenery. A relatively easy, long weekend getaway from Buenos Aires. Lovely resort is relaxing and directly across the road from the best tour boat company for exploring the lake and National Park (highly recommend). It is expensive and the rooms are quite small and basic for the price but I guarantee that you will spend your time on the gorgeous grounds and surrounding areas. Breakfast was a good buffet and the view is hard to beat. The staff was delightful. We were there during low season, while schools were in session so it was very peaceful. Pool area needs a renovation and more seating but the indoor outdoor aspect was spectacular.

A rental car is a must to get to and from the town of Bariloche, sight seeing and airport at your leisure. Hertz is on site but with short hours - convenient and inconvenient at the same time. Better Hertz hours would be nice. Plan ahead if you are able.

Bariloche is full of chocolate shops - heaven. It's worth a few hours but not more. Other small towns in the area were definitely not worth the time it took to drive to them - no matter what the locals tell you. Can certainly make a wonderfully relaxing few days of hiking, boating, swimming and relaxing without the hassle of a car if you can skip the shockingly huge and charming chocolate shops of Bariloche but I couldn't! Would return in a heart beat and would not consider another hotel.

Room Tip: Lake or mountain views from every room. Some views 'majestic' others hill-like on front lobby (driveway) side. Driveway slightly noisy.

My husband and I found the Llao Llao to be the perfect place to spend a week, and we emerged refreshed, happy, and stunned by the beauty of Patagonia. I am perplexed by the reviews that do not speak well of the Llao Llao. We felt that the service was impeccable. The staff and hotel were kind, helpful, and went above and beyond. As we were visiting for our honeymoon, the hotel left us a free bottle of champagne in our room on the first night. The second night was the fourth of July, so the hotel thoughtfully provided little deserts for all of the Americans as well as a card wishing us all a happy fourth. It was detials like these that set the Llao Llao apart.

Admittedly, the Queen bed single room was small, and the room and bathroom were original to the rebuilt hotel. So, it was not all heated floors, soaking tub, Ritz luxury in the older wing of the hotel. But this was expected and appreciated as it maintained the original and lodgey feeling of the place. Moreover, smaller rooms forced you out into the Lobby bar where there were lovely fires, wines, views, and other people to meet.

In addition, we tried the ski lodge (wonderful--they coordinate lift tickets and skis), the pool (best pool ever), the spa (lovely hot stone massage), and the golf course (what it lacked in Augusta-National style neon green grass it absolutely made up for with its unbelievable views). We also felt that the breakfast was wonderful as were the paid meals that we tried at lunch and dinner.

The resort is top notch in hospitality and ambience. The activities are first class from snow skiing to golf. The pool has an awesome view plus hiking around the beautiful resort and golf course will absolutely take your breath away. Lobby is a great place to have a glass of wonderful Argentina wine or enjoying their blend of Llao Lloa tea while enjoying the unforgettable view. No disappointments!
