The dollar was strong, and Leading Hotels was running an amazing deal, that was enough for me to work it into our trip. This is the type of place that you either get to visit because you work in corporate America and it's on the companies tab, or you are celebrating a very special lifetime milestone and you rationalize the spend. I can tell you that if this hotel was in the USA it would be $1100 a night. The property, the activities, the region, the staff, the main lobby, the breakfast buffet all the best. Think about if you were a royal..hoe would you build your lake home? this is it.

I stayed three times at the Llao Llao hotel in Bariloche: The first time was on Christmas 2007 in a standard room, the second time I spent New Year’s Eve 2008-2009 in a studio and the third time was on March 2011 staying in a suite. As it has been noted by other reviewers the hotel is set in a perfect location in the middle of lakes, mountains and forests with spectacular views out of every single window. The standard room is quite small for a hotel of this category. The studio and the suites are quite big but definitely pricier. The hotel has five different restaurants, some more informal, some more formal and the breakfast is excellent with a huge selection of pretty much everything you could wish for. The indoor-outdoor pool has a great view of the Nahuel Huapi and Moreno lakes and the mountains behind and the hotel has an extense list of activities that is left every night on your room. The service was always very good and as the building itself is huge you never really find it too crowded with the possible exceptions of the pool area and the breakfast lounge in the morning.

Room Tip: Standard Room is good and has great views as every other room on the hotel but is more on the "small" side. Studios and Suites are definitely big but also pricier.

Spent two night in February at Llao Llao. We crossed the Andes by ferry and arrived at a dock where you could see the hotel up on a hill. It is surrounded by mountains and lakes. Fabulous views from the hotel, quiet room, and great service. The breakfasts are wonderful, and we ate both nights at the hotel. I think there are three restaurants. We ate one night in a casual restaurant and one night in a formal restaurant. The food and service was very good in both. Nearby is a ski lift which takes you up to the top of a mountain with incredible 360 degree views of the Andes. The town of Bariloche is not far away with lots of shops and restaurants. But the real reason to stay here is to enjoy this fabulous hotel and the scenery. There is a lovely outdoor pool and lots of activities at the hotel such as tango lessons, tennis, archery, and a spa.

Beautiful landmark hotel with dated room: beds had depressions where the bodies go. In the dining rooms there were flies galore and serving china was dirty. Other lovely properties in Bariloche to choose from and choose one of those.
