Great food, reasonably priced. Charming staff and good atmosphere. Best I've had in bariloche. I very much enjoyed my perfectly cooked ribeye steak.

My husband and I came here our last night in Bariloche! We wish we had come sooner because we absolutely would have gone back multiple times. They have a short menu with delicious items. They had good options for vegetarians (and were able to modify a few as well). We had a potato dish (baked with cheese - incredible), a choripan (a sausage sandwich), a salad (fresh arugula, tomatoes, and avocado), and mushroom bruschetta. I would recommend all of these dishes and it was way more than we could eat. The ambiance is wonderful - it feels like you are in someone's gaucho home. The service was incredible and the owner recommended a few other places to us that we would like (too bad we ate here the last night, again!). We were shocked when we received the bill because it was so low. This place is an incredible value with exceptional food. You do need to make reservations in order to get a table - they only have seven and they were all reserved when we arrived.

Don't miss this spot! Amazing meal, our best in Argentina after a week of travel. We had the steak (medium rare, which they did well) which came with a small side salad (also amazing), oven cooked potatoes (chips) with bacon/cheese/sour cream, empanada and jar of wine. For two people it was ~$30 in total, which is insanely cheap for such amazing/quality food. To top it off, the owners were super nice, friendly, spoke great English (also rare) and gave us a recommendation for lunch on our bike trip (Aashi) and it was also great. They are eco friendly by providing pitchers of water (no buying the bottles each time). LOVED LOVED this place. It's also right on the main road at mile marker KM 6 on Bustillo, so you can take the bus (20 or 10) which is very inexpensive/easy from the center of town. Definitely go here, it's small inside, so try to call ahead for a reservation.

Based on TA reviews, we tried this restaurant and wow!!!! We saved this for our last night and it really ended our trip deliciously! The steak was so tender and cooked to perfection! The staff were friendly and attentive. Don't leave without trying La Salamandra!

We traveled throughout Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil in September 2012 and this was by far our favorite restaurant. Although we had good meals elsewhere, there was very little variety in the flavors and seasoning. The food at La Salamandra Pulperia was certainly based on the Argentine cuisine but with a much more sophisticated and complex layering of flavor than we found anywhere else.

To give some context, we are from San Francisco, which has a very vibrant and innovative food scene. And this place could hold its own in SF, without a doubt. Another plus is that that they have (tasty) vegetarian dishes and if you have traveled in the region, you will know how difficult this is to find. We dined there the first night in town and loved it so much that we came back the second night and then when we finally dined at another (very good restaurant) we were sad to not have been able to have a third meal at Salamandra Pulperia...

But enough about the food...as if that wasn't great enough, I have to mention the incredible ambiance. This is a very small restaurant - but not cramped - there are maybe only 25 seats and you really feel as though you have come to someone's home. Someone who you like very much, and who is great cook and conversationalist. Renata and Jeronimo have created a wonderful environment - so welcoming, warm and comfortable. The steak knives are even from their wedding presents...it really is like home. Jeronimo does a great job in the kitchen and bakes beautiful bread while Renata is a gracious and caring hostess.

Please dine here and support this wonderful place they have created. You will have a special meal and a wonderful evening. Oh, and make reservations as far in advance as possible...it is small and well-loved!
