Camping & Hostel Los Coihues is 13 kilometres from the heart of Bariloche, but is definitely worth the visit. We stayed in the campground, which is next to a fast flowing, but swim-able river with plenty of trees for shade, grass for lazing on and quirky wooden structures to use as tables and benches. Electricity in the front camping area is only turned on in the evening, but it is working all day at the back section. There are plenty of barbecues scattered over the land as well. We intended to be there for just a week and ended up staying two.
The facilities in the campground are cleaned regularly and there is hot water pumping from the showers everyday. Owners are friendly and helpful, though no-one speaks English. There's a wifi connection in the common room area. For Hostel guests a kitchen area is also provided and for a few pesos more per day, camping guests can also use it. It is very neat, tidy and above all clean. When we stayed there it was 25 pesos per person per night for camping (5 pesos for a car) and 40 pesos for the hostel
From the campground there are numerous treks to do, but we found ourselves entertained enough by the ibises, ducks, hens and rooster, cat and horses that came to hang out on the grass everyday. There are also a couple of dogs, which you have to watch, because they do like snatching your food when you are not looking.
We were there to relax after some pretty hard cycling through Argentina and that's just what we did. It was most enjoyable.
