Cute little wood shack run by local young guys who make great artificial beers brewed right there. Nice simple goulash and lamb soups for lunch. A sure stop over if you are out in the area. It was part of your tour with Karwen. So I couldn't comment on the price

Nice, quiet place for decent beer (better than anything in Buenos Aires!) and a snack. Can't evaluate the food - only ate empanadas, which were so-so

At Elflein 56 in central Bariloche.
Yeah, the beer is amazing, and so are the US$9-14 entrees, $4 glasses of Trapiche Malbec (huge pours), and $5 desserts (roast pears with walnuts, caramel and cream). My companion has the cannelone with spinach in tomato sauce ($9), I had the sirloin with mango chutney, roast potatoes, and vegetable ratatouille ($11). Fantastic food, great prices, great atmosphere (no tourists). Pizza available as are sandwiches and tapas, if you can't find anything you like ($9 trout in lemon sauce) among the 10 entrees. And locally owned to boot. A very special find in an otherwise tourist trap of a town that caters to backpackers at the low end.

Just a little sign announced "Gilbert's" as we drove around the Circuito Chico outside Bariloche. We pulled in, and an old dog slowly got up and greeted us. A clay oven in the yard was used for baking, and sounds and smells of beermaking came from the small brewery building. Inside the restaurant, my husband tried several Gilbert's beers, while I ordered a pizza and admired the baked pastries. My husband announced that Gilbert's was one of the best beers he's had -- ever -- and he's tried brewpubs all over the Pacific Northwest, plus he grew up in Wisconsin (beer country, if you don't already know). He asked about a tour of the brewery, and they welcomed him. It's a small set-up, not much bigger than a two-car garage, and the brewmaster was young -- but he knew how to make beer. The pizza was good too and the view spectacular, but Gilbert's is about the beer.
