Hostel Pudu

I never write reviews, but just felt I had to give Pudu a cheer somewhere online! We (my husband and me) have just left Pudu hostel after an amazing week!!! The place has just been renovated and is so cool....we had a private room with en suite bathroom, the shower was a dream....the room had so much character...in the morning we got freshly baked scones for breakfast with filter coffee....the staff ARE the owners un like most hostels. Emma, John, Leo and Fernanda were the perfect hosts. The beer is made by a family nearby and is dangerous to say the least, we drank gallons of it. We missed the curry night but the Asado was the best we had in Argentina.

I was recommened this place from a traveller in Iguazu. I had planned spending just 3 nights and spent the week there and returned when passing through Bariloche .

The staff (Mark, Fernanda and Ruben) and owner (I only met the argentine owner Leo, his partners were away on holiday at the time) were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a good time and that they were comfortable. I met lots of other solo travellers and small groups. You cannot avoid making friends here and having a good time. The atmosphere is fantastic.

The breakfast includes scones with butter, jam and dulce de leche with tea or coffee or both. It does lack fruit or cereal though.

The kitchen is fantastic with plenty of room, 3 cookers and 2 sinks make it easy for lots of people to cook at the same time while looking out over the mountains and lake in Bariloche.

The rooms are clean and comfy and if you want peace and quite just head to the TV room upstairs and chill out with DVDs. The partying takes place downstairs by the bar with some home brew and if it's not too cold, in the hammocks in the garden.

Don't miss asado nights and in particular the curry nights. Awesome!

I chanced upon this place by accident, but what a find! Pudu has it just right for backpackers. Days are spent chilling out in the bar, or in hammocks in the garden. There's a Chill out room with loads of DVDs and the best equipped kitchen I've found. Nights are great too with happy hour in the bar before heading out. The owners organise loads of great party nights!

I was working a few hours south of bariloche and traveled back up to Pudu 5 times because i had such a great time there.

The owners are soo helpful and really go out of their way to tell you about the sites of Bariloche, point out things on the map, organise trips for you..whatever you need. One of the other comments said that you won't speak much spanish there, but one of the owners is from Buenos Aires.

Bariloche is a great place to chill out for a few days. But beware, this hostel is so good you won't want to leave!!!

Despite not being someone who likes 'party hostels' - and I didn't choose to stay at Pudu, it happened because the hostel I'd booked into was full - this is an absolute gem of a place whether you're into parties or just want some quiet and to relax.

Lovely owners with hearts of gold who will do everything they can for you, a wonderful dog, amazing DVD room with great views and a surprisingly good breakfast.

Good price too although you probably won't hear anyone speak Spanish while you're there!

I'd go back there if I visit Bariloche again too.
