“A good location, friendly staff”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

There is an Israeli guy, Amit, who is very reliable source of information; Pablo and his wife are also there for answering your questions; it is a comfortable place to stay with a nice common area. It is not noisy at night though most guests are very young backpackers.

First time we have made an effort to make a comment. We arrived to this place and as soon as we were at reception we felt inmediatly at home. A warm welcome and a special invitation for diner. The guys cooked an amazing roast lamb leg with olive oil and rosemary, cus cus with sauteed vegetables, and salad. Few days later they prepared an awesome ASADO, around 700 grs each steak, pork sausage, salads, wine, beer, etc.
Everything was really good, the staff know a lot about town and the all area recommending us what to do, including many activities free of charge around Bariloche.
The house is really nice, with cozy comunal areas where you can meet another travellers and get fresh information about your next city.
Comfy beds, breakfast at any time with home made jams (raspberries and rosehip), good kitchen facilities, free internet & wifi, clean, and good value. All you need from a hostel!
If we have the oportunity to go back to Bariloche we will go to Achalay again.
Thanks Amit, Naty, Flor and Pablo!!!

I stayed there for only one night, but only because the hostel was totally booked out ! No wonder, it has everywhere pretty good ratings, and not for nothing. The best thing was for my opinion the good organization of the stuff (speak very good english too...). Bariloche is for somebody who is cruising the Ruta 40 from south to west the first really big city on the last 4000km. I came here and felt immediatelly lost. At the reception they changed that with a lot of information about the buses, the ATM and supermarket locations etc. The rooms are small but the beds are cozy with thick douvets, lockers are included and big enough to fit a backpack + extra daypack. The bathrooms are convenient, the common rooms have a warm atmosphere, the background music is tastefull and not too loud. The hostel is serving free breakfast and the internet is properly fast.
The location is good, 3 blocks from the center, which is good, because the center looked really crowded and with a lot of traffic. Being used to the Patagonian prices, I found the price for a dormbed here extremely fair. If I could stay longer, I would have. They even helped me find a bed in another hostel nearby.

My Partner and I stayed here twice, and slept in the 4 bed dorms (which you must request when you book). The dorms were clean, with lockers, and the bunks were comfortable. We had amazing asado with other guests on our last night there for only 70 pesos whihc included a great steak, salad, beer and wine! Was much better then any of the parilla's we had been to! The owners were friendly and helpful, and eager to help.

Room Tip: request the 4 bed dorms if choosing to stay in a dorm.

My wife and I stayed several nights here before heading out to trek Parque Nahuel Huapi, mostly because of the reviews we read here. Our private double was clean and comfortable and came with a TV. The bathroom was a bit cramped but equally clean. For 220 pesos, it was right for the price. Pablo was extremely helpful with information about how to get around town, places to eat, and how to get to the parks. We joined them for an asado (bbq meat fest-Argentine tradition) our first night and it was well worth the 70 pesos each. We also got to meet lots of people, mostly Argentines, but some Mexicans and Italians as well.

I would say the majority of travelers were Argentine when we stayed here, but it was varied. The breakfast was basic, but we were able to use the kitchen facilities easily enough. They only had 1 computer for internet which was occupied most of the time but Pablo assured us that they would have 3 by February. It´s in a great location, near the center of everything in Bariloche. You just have to get the 3 de Mayo bus from the terminal and it will take you to the bottom of the hill where the hostel is located.

Overall, a good place to stay but we preferred Perikos on our return to Bariloche.

Room Tip: Our private double was excellent. Not sure if there are more. We did not stay in the dorms.

We planned to stay 3 nights in this hostel and because the nice atmosphere we stayed a week. I recommend this place especially for it's beautifull double room with private bathroom that we stayed in but all the rooms including the dorms looked clean and good to stay in (even the shared bathroom were clean -which is not the case in most places in south america).
The young couple that owns the hostel was wellcoming and helpfull. They will help you with all the information about the city and the area you need.
If you look for a good hostel near the main square, this is the place for you!

Best breakfasts on a lovely terrace, friendly helpful staff and great hot water.

Excellent value - only downside is as a couple there are no double beds, only a cosy room with a bunks! They have lovely feather duvets too.
