“Fantastic Views and Rooms with even better service”
Reviewed July 10, 2012

We were a group of 6 that stayed back in Nov. 2011. I hadn't gotten around to writing a view, but wanted to as we told Juan, the front desk do everything man that we would. The hotel has unbeatable views and the rooms are clean, spacious and give blend in perfectly with the natural beauty around you. The hotel doesn't have many rooms, which really gave us the impression that we were staying in a private place. The service is impeccable as Juan was able to provide us with everything that we needed from excursions to restaurant recommendations and even woke up early on our flying day to make us breakfast. Yes the hotel is not in the heart of town, but a couple minutes in a taxi and your there. Restaurant across the street is also good if you need something for dinner. Plus you don't got to Bariloche to hang out in the city, as the wildlife and nature is what it really has to offer and Lirolay makes you feel like your in the middle of it. Don't hesitate to book here as you won't be dissapoonted.

This hotel is an excellent choice in Bariloche.

Location is unbeatable - directly on the lake, near some of the best dining (Patacon and Butterfly are within minutes walking distance) and a perfect mid point between the city center of Bariloche and the lovely Llao Llao area.

Very thoughtfully designed hotel with incredible panoramic views of the lake and mountains. Beautiful wood and stone exterior - exactly what you'd imagine for a perfect stay in Patagonia. Besides the breathtaking views, our Lago suite (#11) had a fireplace, jacuzzi, kitchenette, large and organized closet space and a spacious bathroom for 2. Beds were large, comfortable and equipped with wonderful crisp white linens. If I'm not mistaken all the suites enjoy the same amenities, the only difference is size - so you really cannot go wrong. I don't know that the website does the suites justice - they are beautifully new and appointed in a tasteful but subtle fashion that lets you focus on the views and location itself. The design is brilliant, with the jacuzzi placed in the front of the suite, so you can enjoy the lake/mountain views as well as the fireplace.

Some details to highlight that we especially appreciated - Welcome refreshments including homemade cookies, chocolate truffles on the pillows upon arrival, notably good breakfast including homemade patagonian jams, fresh pastries, and eggs/toast made to order, and incredibly helpful and attentive staff (from our first inquiry via email to our last breakfast delivered in room for our early AM check-out).

The one recommendation we would offer is to improve the computer/internet connection. Admittedly we were there on holiday to disconnect, but on the 2nd day we needed to send a couple things for work. There is one computer for guests' use in the reception, however it worked so slowly and poorly that we had to take a taxi a few kilometers away to the nearest internet kiosk. I don't know if it was just that day, but we'd bring our laptop next time just in case.

We booked the Lirolay Suite which has incredible views over the lake. Staff are very friendly and speak excellent English. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive from the town but there are two excellent restaurants within 2 minutes walk.

Location: it is perfectly located in front of the lake, 7km from the city center. I personally think the best way to do is to stay outside the city and rent a car. Even if you stay in the city you will need transportation to most attractions, and to the best restaurants (unless you want to dine in the tourist traps every day).

Room: we got a Lago suite, that was perfect for ourselves (a couple with a 1-year old baby). The room is very well maintained, spacious and the small kitchen (microwave and sink) was very handy for us and our baby. It was on the second floor, access using stairs. Heating was efficient and the room temperature control was good. The jacuzzi was in front of the window and large enough for all of us.

Breakfast: very basic, with a not very large selection of items. The only hot item was a toast freshly prepared as we arrived. However, everything was delicious - from the toast to the home made jams. We stayed for 5 nights and were still enjoying breakfast in the last day. You feel like you are having breakfast at home. In my opinion, much better than breakfast at other hotels that offer a large variety of tasteless items.

Service: the 3 guys in charge were always very helpful. We used room service twice while our baby took an afternoon nap, and the "tabla de ahumados" that we ordered was much better than the one we got at Familia Weiss. We had a minor issue we arrived - they were out of cribs and asked if we could stay the 1st night without it. We couldn't - our baby does not sleep outside a crib. But when I answered that, they were able to get another crib.

Overall, I strongly recommend Lirolay Suites - excelent location, good rooms and service, good value for the money.

Just got back from our trip to BA and Bariloche. What an amazing trip. Even though my husband was born in BA some 53 years ago, he had not returned since leaving when he was 3. We really had no idea of what the country was like nor what Bariloche was like other than his parents had honeymooned there over 55 years ago. It superseded all expectations especially the Lirolay Suites. It is the most charming 12 suite hotel we could have found. Being the size that it is, kept it personal and gave us the opportunity to get to know Francisco, Juan and Jose. They are all great. From the moment we were met by Juan, we knew that we had made the right choice. We had looked at a couple of places in Bariloche and the one thing that struck us was the beauty of the facility and the balconies facing the lake. We underestimated how beautiful the suites are and the location is amazing. This facility had what we were looking for. The location was perfect. If you are honeymooning and want privacy, there are a couple of rooms separated from the main facility which has 12 rooms I believe. If you are a family or friends traveling together, it is easy enough to convert 1,2,3 bedroom suites into a large family compound. It is well though out. You have lake access just down the hill. There is a charming little dining area where we had a well displayed and prepared breakfast each morning, not just the coffee and croissant. We were asked each morning if we wanted eggs and toast alongside the traditional breakfast foods. We always like, at least having breakfast or even coffee and a croissant available to us when traveling so as not to have to immediately leave the hotel before the day begins. One morning we even got breakfast brought to us because we were a handful of guests checked in early during the week and it didn't make sense to open the dining area. what a surprise, didn't even have to leave the room!!!! Francisco and Juan would direct us each day on what drive to take. If you can afford it and are adventurous you must rent a car to get the full impact of what the "7 lago lakes" are all about. The roads are safe, but not for the inexperienced driver, and the cars are manual transmission. We wouldn't have seen the beauty of Bariloche if we hadn't had a car. But, with that being said if you don't want a car, you can easily catch the local bus or a tax into town. Maybe a 7 minute drive from the hotel. There is a small grocery and wine market nearby. Everything we wanted and more. We drove to the ski area, which is about 15 to 20 minutes away, and my husband is determined to come back with friends and family for a snowboard vacation. That would be awesome. Anyway, I do not have one bad thing to say about Lirolay, it's staff, the location, the cleanliness of the property. It was beautiful. We have traveled to many places around the world and this was one of the nicest places we've been in. My husband is sad because after taking many drives along Rt. 40, he couldn't even find a sign so we could take a picture. Had to settle on a tee shirt, oh well, if that is the worse compromise of our trip, I think overall we had an amazing time. Thank you all again and hope we have the opportunity to come back and visit.

Room Tip: the first day we headed out and drove from Lirolay to San Martin de los Andes. It was an amazing dr...

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in suite 5 - Mid level left side- March 8 & 9 on beautiful days and were soory to leave. The suites were very nice- great views and very comfortable. It would have been comfortable for a much longer stay. I found the Jacuzzi/ shower combo to be a bit awkward as the shower head is directly overhead meaning you have to stand on the jacuzzi (uneven bottom) to shower.
The staff was outstanding. Helped in lots of ways and great with any assistance. There was a problem with all of the exterior tables (under repair as we left) and thys helped to make sure we had a table for wine on the veranda facing the lake. It was a great way to start in Bariloche- 5 in remis ride- so quiet and lovely. Close to Butterfly, too

Room Tip: There was a tree on the left side - try to go to the right as you face the building

Stayed here for three nights before slumming it down to Ushuaia. And I have to say it was perfection for what we wanted, some R&R, scenic view, beautiful breakfast and a good base for spotting a couple of places.

The things that separates this hotel from a myriad of others are:

1) it's location on the right side of the road give uninterrupted views and access to the lake.

2) The jacuzzi in the room, with the most scenic of panoramas.

Spend a little more to stay at a place you will remember forever, even if you have to slum it on Route 40 as a result.

Room Tip: ask for a room down the hill, closer to lake shoreline if possible. We got lucky and landed the very...
