“Cozy hostel”
Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

This is a cozy hostel in a quiet location about ten minutes walk down to the main street in Bariloche. The interior is cabin style: lots of wood! This makes for a charming interior but does add a little to the noise levels- i.e. wooden staircase and heavy doors. Saying that, we had a double room (of frankly hotel level cleanliness and style) on the first floor and slept like babies. We were lucky enough to have a private bathroom so can't comment on the state of the others. Glancing into the dorms they looked comfortable. Breakfast is homemade bread, jams and cereal, and is fine.
The only thing as some others have mentioned: please get another cooker! More than four people cooking requires acrobatics.

We stayed in a private room for 5 nights, excellent, spacious room, at top of building, so nice and quiet! Slept very well. Clean and always somewhere for a rest and a chat with other guests.
Charlie & Julia are perfect hosts, very helpful, fluent English, full of excellent suggestions for things to do in Bariloche! Definitely recommend.

We stayed here for two nights.
It was such a nice experience staying in this place.
They have a large kitchen where everybody cooks. You may need to wait a bit to use gas stoves, but while waiting, you can socialize with people.
We talked to some people here during dinner and breakfast, which was really fun!

The room was nice and cozy. The staff are helpful.

It is such a lovely place, and it was so fortunate that we could stay here for two nights.

We will love to stay there again!

This place is pretty good but the carpenter hasn't done a very good job on the doors, meaning they need to be slammed which is very noisy at night. Stairs are also made of wood which is ridiculously noisy whenever anyone goes up or down. In a hostel if 3 floors and 30+ guests! that equals lots of disturbance.

The kitchen badly needs another hob. 6 rings for a whole hostel just doesn't do it .

Otherwise, nice place, nice staff.

Wonder what you expect of a hostel, and you'll find it here. Spacious rooms with spacious dorms and huge lockers and great matresses, a good night sleep is guaranteed. Everything spotless clean. Big well-equiped kitchen. Big common areas for socializing, with sofa, television and lots of tables. Garden to chill and grill to BBQ. Basic cooking stuff (salt, oil, spices, herbs, ...) available for free. As well as tea and sugar for free as well all day. Breakfast is (good) bread with jam, cornflakes with milk, and coffee, all selfservice. The staff is amazing, 24/24h, always available to help and give information. Fluently Spanish and English. Location is perfect, just a few blocks from the plaza & Mitre (=center of the city) and lakes, supermarkt two blocks away, ... Stayed here for a few nights. Would absolutely recommend. One remark: for circuito chico, there are better maps than the one you get in the hostel, just ask around in the city

We stayed 7 nights at Periko´s in December 2013, to attend the nearby Montaña Spanish language school (highly recommended)
We found the Hostel staff friendly and ready to give lots of tips on nearby places of interest and things to do when we first arrived, and throughout our stay. They also booked onward bus and guided tour tickets for us.
There is a well laid out common room, a comfy TV/Compter room and a large well equipped Kitchen.
Our double room was large and comfortable, as was the bed, which had plenty of sheets and blankets for a cold night, though the week we were there was unusually hot, dry and sunny. Our room (No 10) on the second floor had a nice triangular skylight type window above the normal curtained window, the result of which was that sunlight came in early in the morning and heated the room a bit like a greenhouse. I would advise 1) take an eyemask to snooze longer and 2) during a similar heatwave, the corridor and common areas are far cooler areas to sit in. Also the nice well kept garden at the rear offers both sun and shade all day.
The ensuite bathroom was kept immaculate daily and hotwater was plentiful.
Wifi is good, but a little slow upstairs.
All in all I agree with comments that Periko´s is more like a hotel, with smiley staff, clean rooms and towels changed every few days, but as a hostel it offers a great place to meet pfellow travelers in the kitchen and common areas.

Room Tip: See note on room 10 - great room but the large window means it heats up like a greenhouse on very ho...

We stayed for one night in a private room with bathroom and the quality was just stunning!
Super comfortable bed, clean room and shower. Soap and towels already there and a nice view on the garden. We regretted staying only one night because we slept like a baby.

Service was great and upon asking we could checkout a little later.
The overall vibe is really good. You can't go wrong booking this hostel!

Bonus: One thing that we really liked is that there's a maximum stay of 10 days. We stayed in a couple of hostels where people would stay for a longer period and it really kills the atmosphere. This hostel has got a noticeably better vibe than average.

Room Tip: The private rooms are like hotel rooms!
