We made the phone call, because you cant book online. We're glad we did. The staff are so friendly, the views are the best in Bariloche, the kitchen is so spacious (there are 3 industrial ovens!), the rooms could do with a refresh. But when thats the only thing thats not perfect, then who cares. The bedrooms were always warm, they were comfy, they were quiet and the views in bed were superb. It just needed new carpet, a few more clothes hooks and a lick of paint. We didn't spend much time in there though as the common rooms were very comfortable and everyone was friendly.

We could have stayed there forever. Thank you Gladys and Javier for your hospitality!!! We miss you already.

Hostel 1004 is the best place to stay in Bariloche by a long way. We stayed here for 6 nights, and could have easily stayed a month. The view from the balcony (the highest in Bariloche) is amazing as you look over the lake and mountains, and then watch the sun dip behind the mountains in great style. Furthermore, the bedrooms also offer a fantastic view over the lake and town as well. The kitchen is big, and by far the best equipped that we have experienced on our trip, with an array of utensils, ovens, hobs, and fridges. The breakfast is great too, not simply the standard croissant and dulce de leche. And after exploring Bariloche and the surrounding areas, there is a huge common room with couches, chairs, and large wooden tables to sit around and either relax, chat, have a few drinks, or play chess. There´s also wifi and free internet too. Its worth the stay just to wake up to the fantastic view every day.

Next to impossible to make advanced reservations. The view is stunning and the common areas would be "spacious" if the hostel didn't cram so many people into the space. There is literally a waiting line for space to cook in the kitchen and usually not enough table space to sit and eat. The rooms are cramped and even the "private" rooms share baths. With the large number of guests, the hostel is loud - basically a "party" hostel. There are better choices in Bariloche for less money.

This hostel is amazing, the views are unbeatable - the staff are very friendly and helpful and this place attracts some very laid back travelers. If visiting Bariloche make sure you stay in this place because it will add to your enjoyment of the town. Spend the day doing outdoorsy things and then come back cook your dinner in the massive kitchen and share a drink with your fellow travellers!

This hostel is firstly really hard to book, we had to ring when we arrived in Argentina as they dont take bookings by email. I cant say it was really worth the effort! Yes, it has amazing views, they really are incredible. However, the rooms are not the best. We stayed in a double room which was quite dingy - the carpet was pretty threadbare and stained and the walls would really benefit from a lick of paint. What seemed strange was there was a padlock on the wardrobe - dont know why but I never saw that before. The bathrooms were fine, not as clean as I hoped though. The staff are okay, friendly enough. Ive stayed in a lot of hostels and this wasnt the best. If you want an incredible view or to meet other backpackers then I would recommend this hostel but it could really benefit from some upgrading. It has so much potential.

amazing views of the town and the surrounding landscape, nice communal areas and slightly better breakfast than many hostels in argentina. 5 mins or less to walk to the centre of bariloche. rooms comfortable though not as nice as some other places i stayed in, same goes for the bathrooms.
