This hostel is well located in the city centre and benefits from fantastic views as it is on the 10th floor.

The staff are very friendly and accomodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. We met loads of other travellers in this social but not party hostel. The communal areas are fantasic and clean.

This is a lovely hostel with awesome views over the lakes. The staff couldn't be more pleasant or helpful and the common areas are superb - the kitchen is probably the best equipped hostel kitchen I've seen and the lounge area is very comfortable with free wifi.

A great place to base yourself in Bariloche.

This is definitely a really cool hostel in a good location, with great staff, large kitchen and cool common areas. The highlight here the long balcony where everyone sits as the sun sets overlooking the lake. It truly is magnificent. However, this comes with a price (and I'm not referring to dollars) what I mean is... It is very difficult to book this place without a bus ticket or plane ticket. Which seems easy enough, but becomes an huge nuisance when you aren't able to get your bus ticket until a few days before you arrive or when you have to get a different bus and arrive late. AND you don't have a phone to call in your bus ticket number. AND They will give away the room if you show up past 3pm. It's very popular and they have no problem filling the spots especially for double rooms. The other down side, is there are no rooms with private bath. There are plenty of bathrooms, so it's easy to get one when needed, but they are a little stinky and run down, as are all the rooms. This place would be really awesome if someone just put a little money into updating the rooms and bathrooms, it's a little run down, but still very eclectic and clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lake side if possible. The city side is also nice and you get a view of the la...

On the top floor of this 1970s tower block this hostel is a fantastic place to stay and not only because it´s the only place from town where you can´t see the monument to design that is the Bariloche Centre. Whilst not a beauty from the outside, from the inside this is a wonderful place.

On our travels we have stayed at 25 hostels in South America so far and this is the one that truly stands out. We stayed for 3 nights and wish it could have been long. The common space is not only spacious but also very welcoming. Our double room was fairly priced and meticulously clean. There are more than enough bathrooms to go around. Most importantly for us, the hostel runners have really thought through details, such as the size of the kitchen and the number of burners. Also they provide a very decent breakfast with a museli mix and homemade bread - real rareities in Argentina.

Annie and Cecilia are amazing hosts, who take an interest and provide very detailed information about the variety of activities in the area. Also the locals you meet on the way up in the lift have some interesting tales to tell. If you need any more convincing just take a look at the views, they speak for themselves.

Wow, what an amazing time we had here. This is the best hostel we have stayed in, so good that we ended up staying 10 days!
The basics: the dorms are clean and spacious, even the 8 man dorm, and all have great views of the town. the bathrooms are very clean and there are plenty of them. the large kitchen is excellent, always spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with free use of oil, spices, tea, coffee and sugar all day long.
the common area: a really nice atmosphere to relax and socialise in with the most amazing view of the lake and mountains. always clean and tidy with a very eclectic mix of music played all day. very cooll it has a long outdoor balcony area as well which is great to hang out on when the weather is nice.
the staff: annie, cecilia, gla and ben. the kindest guys we have met on our travels. so helpful and friendly to everyone. they were always on hand for advice about what to do, where to go and what bus to book. they would ask about your day and are genuinly interested in what everyone is doing. every day they would bake the most delicious bread for the free breakfast in the morning. one cold and wet sunday afternoon they even baked this amazingly tasty banana bread to share with the whole hostel with tea and coffee laid on...a perfect sunday afternoon!
we were very sad to leave this hostel which had become a home away from home for us and if we are ever fortunate enough to make it back to bariloche we will definitely stay here.

SO glad we stayed here!! favorite parts:

1. AMAZING views of the lake and town, they have it set up perfectly so everyone can enjoy them from the common room and surrounding balconies. Perfect location--right in the middle of town.

2. The Kitchen/common area: HUGE kitchen you can use for all meals. 3 stoves, great views/atmosphere in here too. Because of this, lots of people cooked dinner each night. there was plenty of space for everyone, and it was so fun to be in the kitchen cooking and getting to know all the wonderful peeps staying there. Common area had plenty of room to hang out and chat over dinner (and have some drinks with everyone afterwards), but the common area is so big that you can also find a quiet corner to read a book and hang out alone if you want.

3. the staff. They were hands down, just wonderful, helpful, accommodating people. They helped us with the local bus, exchanging money, finding groceries, booking our bus down to el calafate.....ask them about any of this and they will get you the info. I also got a little scraped up from a fall when we rented bikes and did the circuit (which, even after the fall, I HIGHLY recommend doing--absolutely gorgeous and not that intense/fall was my own fault), and they had bandages and everything i needed to get cleaned up afterwards. Plus the girls were just so sweet--I felt like they were my sisters, there to comfort me!

The rooms were good too, big closet for our bags, comfortable beds, huge picture windows.....everything you need. And it is all shared bathrooms (which we normally don't do, like our own), but there are plenty of bathrooms in the place and they were always clean.

So glad we chose to stay at Penthouse 1004.....HIGHLY recommend it!
