Sol Arrayan Hotel & Spa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 20, 2011

I loved loved this place! The rooms are cozy with an amazing view of the lake. It actually felt like a private resort just for us...we rarely saw other people while we were there. We had basically had the awesome heated pool and outdoor deck to ourselves.
Staff is super friendly and nice..feels homey despite the fact that their not fluent in English.
Location is great...close to town for a nice walk or a bikeride to other outdoor activities. Close to good restaurants.
The dining at Sol Arrayan is not the best but fine if you just want to stay in for a night with beautiful views of the sunset. Breakfast is included.
Only bad thing during my visit was my masage at the spa. Not worth it

We stayed four days over Easter with my son and partner and were delighted at the quality of the rooms and food. The view of the lake from the reception, dining and pool areas was stupendous. The view from our rooms with walkout terrace was partially obstructed by trees but the bathroom of other rooms we were shown below did not seem as new.
You could hear the road from time to time but not exceptionally.
We recommend taking a walk through the gardens down to the lake to see the changing landscape. We used the pool and would have used the sauna but it wasn't always on.
The front desk answered all our queries and offered advice on walks and restaurants. It was service with a smile.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. We holidayed in the Lakes Region for a week in September 2010 (the very early spring) and were consistently overwhelmed by the natural beauty of the place (Hint: Bring several 4GB camera cards along with you because you won't be able to stop taking pictures), the friendliness of the people who live here and the quality of the hotels and restaurants. Given how small and relatively remote towns like Villa La Angostura and San Martin de los Andes are, the hotels you find down there are really amazing -- luxuriously appointed with jaw-dropping views but rates that, by U.S. and European standards, are quite reasonable. The Sol Arrayan in Villa La Angostura, where we stayed for three of the eight days we were down there, was one of our favorites. Our room had a stunning unobstructed view of the mountains and lake, a lovely little deck that we sat on for hours gawking at the scenery (and which featured an ingeniously disguised cooler we filled with local wine and beer) and a friendly, helpful and bilingual staff. We plan to return to this little slice of heaven again and again and will stay at the Sol Arrayan every time we do. To be sure, the room was on the small side. And the bed was probably a queen. But the location, price, amenities and staff more than compensated for that. And let's face it: The surrounding countryside is so beautiful that all you want to do is get out of your room and explore it anyway. The Sol Arrayan's restaurant, like everything else here, has a great view. We only ate breakfast there (there were too many places in town that beckoned for dinner and we had picnicked as we explored during the day.) But judging from breakfast, they know how to cook. And the indoor outdoor pool, a surprisingly common feature down there, was lovely. Just book it. You won't be disappointed.

Fantastic view from every room, relaxing atmosphere, very friendly staff, good food. Ironically I had just discussed "the best hotel room we've stayed in" with my boyfriend the night before arriving at this hotel and we both agreed that Sol Arrayan should replace the previous winner. The view of the lake with the mountains is breathtakingly beautiful. The hotel is built in a way that you see this view from every location in the hotel: the lobby, the bar, the restaurant, the spa area, your room, and you can't get enough of it. There are great restaurants in town, but the hotel restaurant is very good as well and not overpriced at all. The breakfast buffet was great and plentiful. After some busy days in Buenos Aires, we found the much needed relaxation in the quaint little town of Villa La Angustora. I highly recommend a trip here.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in November. The hotel was pretty quiet as it was off season which was nice. Our room was a decent size with a balcony where we could read outside and enjoy the sunset. We also spent an afternoon lounging by the pool and in the spa area (which was beautiful) which was extremely relaxing. For the most part, the staff was helpful and polite although inconsistent among each other (ie: some were far superior than others) - this is one area I think the hotel could improve on.

We had a wonderful time at the Sol Arrayan Hotel and Spa. The hotel is in Villa La Angostura, a wonderful small village approximately one hour north of Bariloche (an easy drive from the Bariloche airport). We preferred the smaller upscale village of Villa La Angostura to the larger and more congested Bariloche. The Sol Arrayan hotel offers a magnificent setting sitting on the banks of Lake Nahuel Huapi. The hotel is a small boutique type hotel with 6 floors of rooms. There is a bar on the top floor, with reception and the lobby on the fifth floor, the restaurant on the fourth floor and the spa and pool on the third floor. The rooms were very clean and offered lovely views of the lake from each room. Our room (#507) had a very small balcony that one could step out onto to view the lake. The rooms were well appointed and furniture was in very good condition and the beds were extremely comfortable.
The hotel is owned and operated by a local family and it shows. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and showed genuine concern for their guests. Pablo and Sebastian are the onsite owners and operators and made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and everything was to our satisfaction. They were very courteous and helpful and provided great suggestions for sightseeing, dining or other needs. They printed out boarding passes as well as other documents for us. The restaurant offered wonderful food and drink. Breakfasts were included and were very nice as well. We spent 3 days at the Sol Arrayan and we would highly recommend the Sol Arrayan and Villa La Angostura to anyone visiting the Bariloche area.

A two year old hotel, two kms from the centre of Villa La Angostura (30 min easy walk), built above the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi in the 7 Lakes distict, near Bariloche in the foothills of the Andes, with magnificent views. The initial room we were offered was pleasant but very small but in the "peak" of the off-season (with perhaps only 3 other couples) we were upgraded to a lovely suite with a small balcony and jacuzzi, both ideal for champagne and sunsets (which we were fortunate to enjoy 2 of). very comfortable bed, but the room tended to be overheated, as others have said. Note no hair dyers. The decor is elegant in a minimalist Scandanavian style with the extensive use of timber and a restful warm colour scheme. very pleasant spa facilities with an outdoor/indoor swimming pool.
A reall y nice lounge area with an open fireplace. The restaurant was very good with an excellent breakfast and an interesting dinner menu, but beware! In the off-season, you have to tell the management in the morning that you will have dinner there so they can bring in staff. Unfortunately we only found this out when we tried to have dinner on a wet, miserable night after returning from an all day drive around the 7 Lakes (on bone-shaking dirt roads).
The staff were all very helpful and pleasant with the receptionist organising our horse-back riding and hire car excursions.
For those of you who know Argentina, nothing starts early and La Angostura is no exception (at least in the off-season) and so don't worry about the 8:30 breakfast start.
Being on an off-season package, the prices were very good and with an upgrade, excellent.
